Ploki wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 7:10 am They aren’t no, Bx Masterdesk has the same game changing algo but with two frequencies.
Also, 3 ssl consoles and 2098 share the same saturation algo.

Ive listed a few that i think are actually great.
Not sure what’s special about bx digital, but there’s nothing wrong with it either.
well... that one is also more than just some freq bumps really... not one I need though.

bx_digital just has a really good GUI that is easy to work with. The EQ itself is really clean unless you boost excessively, so not a mojo EQ. It's just a really good tool whether, cutting harshness and resonances, shaping a bus, shaping a mix with m/s.

Of course there are other EQs, but this one is really good 'to use' once you learn the GUI. I'll use after a 'mojo' EQ on a bus or mix, or for surgical EQing..

I read that, and though "Hmm, 80s seems a bit early for Waves...":-

"Waves began in October 1992 with the introduction of the first audio plugin, the Q10 Paragraphic equalizer. "

Good post though! :tu:
My guess is it was a typo, well you'd hope so.

It must be their 30th anniversary next year, thats a crazy long time for a plugin developer. Man, imagine the amount you'd learn in that time.

I still use a good few of those early Waves plugins - I still really like the RenComp and RenVox...

I think my first *use* an an audio plugin was probably the first version of AutoTune, inside Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge. Being able to invisibly retune *recorded audio* was sufficiently advanced as to nearly be magic... Probably around a similar time as Recycle and Phatmatik Pro were making working with loops finally practical...

Was this before of after the destruction of the Library Of Alexandria?!? :ud:

Man imagine the work involved maintaining all their plugins so projects dating all thew way back still open without issue, yet at the same time being able to come up with new innovative solutions. It can't be easy.

The Metric A/B is indispensable and sits at the end of my bus chain.
The Maaq Audio EQ4 replaced the Kush Clariphonic on my mixbus, and it is far less CPU hungry.
The bx Subfilter has been a life saver on a few occasions.
Some the Brainworx amps are terrific. As a guitar player I have a preference for the tone of 1960's Fender amps, and the Bassdude is the only amp sim that I know of that comes close to catching the tone and response of the real thing. I also grabbed their Ampeg SVT-VR Classic when they were giving it away for free earlier this year. The best bass amp plugin I have ever used.

You should try the MS version. Blows it out of the water...

I really enjoy Knifonium. It sounds very gritty and warm, and it's especially great for synthwave. Also it doesn't seem to be as popular as other soft synths, and it has a pretty unique sound, so I find it makes for interesting tracks. It's very heavy on the CPU though, so since I'm using a below average PC I can only load up on instance on each project unless I bounce it to audio.

Oberhausen is also pretty cool. I'd say these 2 are my go-to soft synths. I tend to do retro genres of music though, so maybe these wouldn't be as useful in other styles.

Isnt it like the same algos…

MS is the key. Different saturation mid and side opens up the whole mix.

Yes, but has new features which make it more flexible like being able to focus where you put the saturation frequencies, plus the whole mid-side thing means you can go a lot further to tailor it to your needs - being able to saturate the mid and sides by different amounts is a cool thing...

Post

That'S PA for you right there - instead of just improving the original plugin... it's 100% business bullshit...

I can do M/S with any plugin in logic since forever.
The focus thing as far as i tested isn’t compensated, like on i.e tone projects kelvin or spectre in de-emphasis mode
