I use Muzys ( free with purchase of a Computer Music magazine ) for VSTi sequencing. It also imports MIDI ( Jazz is a free sequencer ). I use Quartz Audio Master Freeware for recording ( it's also nice for listening to loops ). It's all mixed in Kristal. Also, my VST's are Freeware ( those donations are coming as soon as the royalty checks get here ).

nice setup! i use a almost freeware setup too! :)
kristal & audacity for mastering, lotsa free fx plugins (smartelec... fish..classic series etc.), some trackerish stuff...aodix, modplug, buz & psycle and well a couple of commerical stuff like reason, some vstis plex (isn´t it great they made it a free give away if u purchase another vsti from steinberg..ha...i shelled out the full price for it...aaaarghs) - still nice 90s digital rompler. xphraze, ppgwave...
well normally i prepare samples from my vst stuff and use em into reason nntx. in contrast to the majority i really think it is a fine piece of software...never crashed til now...
buzz is ingenious if u r into strange chopped up beats and general audio mangling. just put some loops into the stutter machine, connect lots of strange fx. control them via peer-machines (love the peer lfo)... and watch in awe. it´s a little bit like "autechre in a box" :)

You could do it completely for free if you found an old and working pentium 3 lying around in a back alley with Buzz and a bunch of freebie VSTs and you had a big extension chord you ran into your neighbors house :hihi:

A tiny bit of snow (melted soon) if anyone would like to know the weather in Hamburg (where it nearly never is snowing).

Androidlove, I just can tell you what others have, scuzzphut and Multree have nice plugins and things (but beware scuzzphut, he was the reason I did spent money on a vsti  as he recommended me a good one, Phantom).
As you got Computermuzys you have the DS404-sampler too, and the CM-stuff, and Ohmygod-plugin and Triangle and so on. I would recommend TWITCH, a fine drum-sampler with some very nice features (and currently a new version is built). Here's the link if you want: http://www.majken.se/twitch/

Cheers,

Georg
