The installer doesn't mention "SpectraLayers Pro 8" but just "SpectraLayers 8". If you don't see "Pro" when launching it, it means you didn't enter your Pro activation code into the eLicenser Control Center.

in my previous reaction i also mentioned that it is not activated, you use the download code via steinberg download assistent, to activate it.

and indeed the installer, contains all versions, the license you have unlocks features. or all versions, it unlocks features... or perhaps.. o well.

Well, even full price is cheaper than my update "offer" from RX to RX Advanced :D
For me, Spectralayers is becoming more and more interesting as RX alternative.
Can you crossgrade even if you have Adobe Audition via Creative Cloud? (mine is also on a University license)

I'm so curious as to what sort of music makes this beautiful pattern

almost looks like cellular automata so maybe so in my head I'm thinking of something very much like a swarm or cloud like musical structure

I know as much as I can tell from this:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

did you use the download code in steinberg download assistent? then it will automatically, almost, yes auto, register it to your eLicenser (dongle).

also, removing the last install of One, or 7 or 6, is recommended, by me..., because then also cubase, if you have cubase, or any other ARA2 capable DAW/host, will get the right one..
Thanks to both who replied. I think it was an install error on my part. I must have clicked license to dongle rather than computer. Maybe, anyway after uninstalling everything, 7 and 8, then reinstalling i now have 8pro

The cells are an artefact of the visualisation. Fiddle around with zoom and fft suze and contrast and you should find similar

you can set to them whatever you want, great for several approaches and goals.

the cells are an artefact? it is another kind of visualition, a deeper one, one of the many you can, i repeat, get. i think it has its use...

but i am quite happy with this update, perhaps mostly because of the smaller workflow improvements; per channel manipulation, editing. great for strange stereo effects...
or deepler mangling of samples.

the AI stuff, i will certainly use, i notice how cleaner my strange samples are, other results come from it, so not-clean samples have a result, and cleaner samples have a result. yes, yes.

de-wind is what i am missing.. but perhaps there are other solutions to it, i already managed it do it manually. so no big problem. (for field recordings... and if no field recorder, sometimes a smartphone, that must be cleaned...)

Does this do time stretching?

I think the cells are an artefact caused by the zoom level and window function of the fft. Long time since I played with ffts but that interaction is what springs to mind

Yes, using the Transform tool.

it certainly can be, but you get these not with the window size of FFT, but with resolution and refinement. in way all are -how do you say it- approximations (?).

so you could be right, of course window size of FFT is also important, but mainly resolution and refinement give this result.

within high resolution and refinement, i can detect more about may strange samples..

but every goal/need, does need another FFT window size, de-click for examples depends on it, but it is now more AI driven, perhaps not needed for it. or refinement/resolution.

so it depends, those artefacts can give insight, perhaps another insight, with less refinement and resolution and another FFT size.

RTFM for new users; how FFT size is important for some processes! it will you save a lot of problems, and understand how spectralayers works.

it is how spectralayers works, me like it. if you learn it, it is so powerfull.. i use it mainly for Sound Brut Design. but yesterday i finally could clean a master, you must do it pre-master, strangely you don't hear it... so had to it on a master, it are a bunch of strange samples, with difficult freqeuncy, i could finally got rid of the, how must i call them, little distortions? strangely in Pro 8, it really worked wel.. not before... i dabble with the frequencies of the samples, within a DAW, warping... and other mangling, and they were already mangled from the source, of own making. that source i could of course make better, but then all the power went away.. so yes, i do cleaning, also..

@aMUSed, indeed time stretching ánd pitch shifting. but fun is also in the details...

Yes, using the Transform tool.
Good quality? What algos does it use?

Post

SpectraLayers' own algorithm, FFT-based. It operates on spectral selections.

Post

Does this require the dongle? It didn't mention it on the purchase page.

Also has anyone with RX moved over completely to Spectralyer, or do you use both?
