How can you managed to crash an OS in 2020? Sorry, seems unreal really...
Actually quite easy on OSX and Linux - GPU driver crash will bring them to their knees. Doesnt happen often as there are not so much games on them, but then again, even Premiere uses GPU today so yea I've seen them crash and burn. At the same time, since Vista, Windows will just reset the driver and you can continue working after the black screen. If the driver is totally borked, then Windows will STOP.

Recapping what we know.

It will run ANDROID apps.

Claims It will let developers keep 100% of their profits.

They are welcoming 32 bit to the google store.

Android is NOT, in fact dead. What a nightmare for security specialists, but It will open the door wide open for new android software.

It's important to know what TPM header is present on your motherboard. Looks like old version had 14 pins and the new one has 20 pins. My motherboard has a 20-pin header (socket) and probably supports TPM 2.0 module.

Still it's 3rd party GPU driver crash, I had internet browser messing with my memory till the point of freezing whole system, it's not Windows fault.

I will wait to see if Microsoft changes there requirements though. In the meantime, any suggestions for a TPM 2.0 module? I have a Gigabyte motherboard, but guess any brand is fine since it is a standard module.
TPM 2.0 modules only work with supported chipsets. For Intel chipsets, the oldest supported variant seems to be the 8 series. So you have to check exactly which module fits to the motherboards chipset.

Dude said what ever it is you are doing, what ever your enterprise, even if its 32 app etc. They want you to be able to sell it through store. So, 32 bit must not be axed, i found that interesting.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the info. As long as, it is a 20-pin one it should be good I guess.

But what I said bummer is probably no longer valid, because I just realized I could enable Intel Platform Trust Technology in BIOS and now Windows is able to detect TPM. So, I believe it is (non-discrete) TPM 2.0 and I need not worry about this now: https://www.intel.in/content/www/in/en/ ... l-nuc.html

However, one more news now is that older CPUs might not (at least officially) support Windows 11: https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/25/2254 ... quirements

I have a Core i7 CPU here. Even after enabling TPM, the upgrade checker still shows I can't install Windows. Not sure what the's problem here. I will wait for an update to the upgrade checker.

The CPU list should surely be more extensive than what's mentioned in the article above, else many will miss out.

look man, i have never bought an android app in my life, but they are telling you they want you be able to run 32 bit android apps on the desktop. How am i supposed to take that?

one correction tho, now im seeing 88% take for developers.

This made me giggle, just a little...
Microsoft is also requiring a front-facing camera for all Windows 11 devices except desktop PCs from January 2023 onwards. It’s another change that will shape the hardware that Windows 11 will run on in the coming years.

edit: back in the day, there was this hype about ECHELON...maybe its rising now :help:

look man, i'm guessing you meant the Microsoft Store, not the google store. that's all.

Not really.
I have a 20-pin TPM connector on my Gigabyte Z77 DSH3 and this a Z77 chipset (Intel 7 series). But on the Gigabyte website for the TPM modules there is no module that supports the 7 series, it starts with the 8 series.
Yes... this will be really interesting, because for many this will mean that they will have to buy new hardware (at the latest in 4 years when the support for Windows 10 ends).

That's interesting. Yeah, that's right. Fortunately, for me, it looks like I have TPM in the form of Intel TPP, which supports fTPM 2.0 and hopefully should suffice for Windows 11 upgrade. I am worrying about using a relatively older CPU now. Definitely don't need to or have cash for upgrading my CPU for Windows 11. Even TPM modules seem to be an expensive affair. Only time will tell...
