cheers
Anyways, i'm impressed by this one. The Unfiltered Audio ones didn't do it for me at all.
It's a bit expensive, but it sounds like some quality getup.
The direct competition from Sugarbytes is Turnado, which has a sequencer in it. It's actually kinda dope but its still expensive, when not on sale (unless you buy it for iOS) and I think not resizeable. The classic step sequenced multieffect plugin is Stutter Edit, where they released Stutter Edit 2 not too long ago, which is kinda powerful but no ones talking about it :D. Maybe because Stutter Edit 1 was such a meme at one point? And then theres the already mentioned Glitch. Thats the only ones I can think of. Depending on what you want to go for Shaper Box could fill a similar role.

pekbro wrote: Wed Jun 23, 2021 10:15 pm I think the main thing with this plugin (for most) is the effects sequencing. If you just want a multi-effects suite, maybe there is less attraction for you. Of course, you can do much with effects seqs beyond glitch or beat mangling, and certainly you don't have to use it that way. I expect more effects will materialize in time, these are quite good though, for the cost of it. There are better multi-fx suites imo, but often they are quite a lot more costly.

I think for what it is, it's one of the best choices among it's direct competition. TBH, I have yet to buy it. Mostly as I am not super into software these days opting instead to spend the big bucks on hardware myself. I actually went with the Empress Zoia over this (so far) at 5x the cost.
Why/how is this better than Effectrix or Looperator? Serious question.

Also i have Shaperbox 2. Why/how is this better than Shaperbox 2?
Ultimately, only you can decide if it's better overall compared to the aforementioned plugins, that being said, one thing Infiltrator does better than ShaperBox 2 imo, is being able to load multiple instances of the same effect i.e. you could have 10 filters if you really wanted to. AFAIK you can only load one instance of each Shaper type into ShaperBox, i.e. FilterShaper plus a VolumeShaper plus a CrushShaper but not 3 x FilterShaper.

Infiltrator has more FX types too, there are delays, reverbs, phaser, FM, a vowel filter and so on. It's a multiFX plugin with LFOs whereas ShaperBox is an LFO plugin with FX, if that makes sense. That's the distinction I make anyway.
Yeah that does make sense, thank you for your reply. :D

Are you sure Turnado has a sequencer?

you can get chorus and flanger flavours using delays, there's a sub category for flangers in the factory presets.
Always Read the Manual!

Yes, it does.
It's one of many choices in the LFO window (there's 2 LFOs available for each of the 8 effects).

Cheers pal, i couldn't see that! Should've RTM ;)

How effective is the EQ for general EQ'ing purposes? Or would a dedicated plug in serve better?

Post

there's +/-36dB on the default bell curve, so plenty of control there ;)

One final question, as I'm sereiously tempted by this: I'm sure it's very easy to do but how would you program a gated reverb?

Post

I tried and could not make it so the reverb would duck while the sound was playing--so that when the sound stopped, the reverb based on it would turn on. I can have reverb turn off and on via the sequencer, as well as shape the amount of reverb within a step. You got me stumped.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Post

I had assumed you could use the sequencer to turn it off, like with a square wave as a gate or something

Post

Gated reverb -> i just made a beat, selected the init wipe from the menu, clicked the second square in the sequence (1/4 note) and chose reverb from the effect menu. Adjust Mix to taste. Done. Gated Snare.

Post

Every time you gate the reverb like that, the reverb information from the gated sound does not carry over once the reverb is turned on.

My bad, I'm confusing it with ducking the reverb, sorry.
