need more latency time: possible to increase buffer size above driver limits (on weak CPU)?

A trick I use in Studio One when mixing is to change the Sample Rate to 48.0 kHz or 44.1 kHz in Song Setup. Studio One downsamples on the fly non-destructively, so it will cut CPU use in half while leaving the actual audio files untouched.

Just make sure to change the Sample Rate back to 96.0 kHz or 192.0 kHz or whatever you use before you record new audio or Export Mixdown.

I don't know if any other DAWs can do this, but I know Cubase can't. (Cubase will destructively convert all of your audio files to the lower sample rate offline.)

Something to make note of.
Higher buffer size will require more than 44.1/48khz
For some flipping reason when I set my stuff low and buffer high it has clicks and pops untill I go up to like 96+

Oh my God, oh my God! It was the RAM. I just did it! :wheee:
I swapped the RAM chips (laptop 2 vs. laptop 1) and boom!
This means a big step ahead for me.
Whoever reads this and has the same problem:
If you have a laptop and use Serum, listen, you need to have 4 GB of RAM.
3 GB won't suffice at all! Theat's where the crackling sounds really come from. It's not your CPU! Even as little as 2 GHz Duo Core will be enough. It's the RAM!
It works in Cubase, with normal latency times and everything...
C'mon, there must be something that you do in your life besides sleeping or working? And then for the first time he was really thinking and what did he reply: I watch TV!

No joke: it's the most CPU efficient DAW on the block.
Not as efficient as logic on M1
