There's no demo version, it's the full thing... But if you want the extras and more presets and access to the vocal synthesis thing, pay for the sub or the $80.
But like I said go on the forums to the monthly sound share threads and download them, more than enough.

I have both Serum and Vital, but I prefer Serum overall. I like the sound more and it's very stable. It also has a native Apple Silicon version
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

OK so while we are on this topic of Synths for Techno, there are the usual suspects, but what about synths like Avenger or Nexus ? They still relevant for techno ? Dare I mention Omnisphere ?
I see a lot of people selling certain synths in the Marketplace and not selling others, makes me wonder why they sell them and why so many sell the same synth. They not living up to the hype ?

Some synths even if they might sound good end up in the re-selling since they might have some issues of not running very smoothly/bugs or have irritating copy protection system. This is what I’ve learned reading comments and reviews of some synths.LeVzi wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:03 am OK so while we are on this topic of Synths for Techno, there are the usual suspects, but what about synths like Avenger or Nexus ? Naturally some synths might be good sounding and run smooth, but they just don’t “fit” to the users sound palette (maybe the re-seller bought the synth with a bundle where they did get some other synth they are using).

I'm wondering a bit. You asked about synths which are good for specific genres, and then you go by features, and other stuff? It surprises me a bit, because, for me, not only the sound of a synth is the most important thing, but, especially when I ask which suits specific genres, the sound is even more important.Trancer wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:18 pm Indeed, I hesitate between
Serum and Vital. Because,
I wonder if Vital is not equivalent or even superior to Serum at present.
Apart from that, you're also doing another thing wrong: You let others decide what's best for you, and then you part with hundreds of Euro/Dollars/whatever.
If I was you, I'd demo the hell out of those synths, and create sounds which match what you're after, and then decide what you want. Anything else won't lead to a good purchase, I will promise you that.

Tried all, but Ana 2 is my go to synth. It is absolutely amazing synth.Trancer wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:18 pm Indeed, I hesitate between

Think what you find usable for your own sound is relevant, look at Boris, using Nexus, Omnisphere, Alchemy, Fab One...LeVzi wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:03 am OK so while we are on this topic of Synths for Techno, there are the usual suspects, but what about synths like Avenger or Nexus ? Tbh I am using Thorn and Diversion a lot atm. tbh i've become more of a preset whore than making my own sounds but I simply love the GUI's on these two, and it makes it more of a pleasure to use.

I think it's because you can make the same sound in so many of them these days...LeVzi wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:03 am OK so while we are on this topic of Synths for Techno, there are the usual suspects, but what about synths like Avenger or Nexus ? Ana 2, Hive 2, Zebra 2, Dune 3, Spire, Obin2 etc, you can pretty much get the same sound from all of those.
Then you got those who are like this oscilator or some other something cuts off 0.000001db of frequencey and does it this way rather than that way, personally my ear isn't that perceptive of such stuff so I don't care, only if it really makes a difference and I really do notice it I will. I will connoisseur my sounds at some level but not often, some instruments and styles of music need it especiallyin NI K12U instruments and Kontakt instruments where you can hear the sample on some note has hit the mic's vibration frequency and sounds off, happens with vocal instruments also at certain frequencies and it makes me cringe.
A big one and important one for me and probably others is the GUI/UI. Some will fit with one person more than another does, I love Ana 2, Hive 2 & Zebra 2, Spire etc but take Spire for example the GUI works and looks like absolute shait and is terrible to use, between MSDOS and Spire I would choose MSDos, But Spire sounds better lol.... But jokes aside it does hove some great sounds (but I wouldn't write home about it).
EG when I'm in my day job and using a shait programming IDE my day of programming is slow, cumbersome and a pain in the ass because the I don't get along with the program that I have to use to program that language, I slower in productivity and don't have so much fun at doing my job, when I'm using an IDE that I like using, has all the plugins and my custom setups etc, I'm much faster at what I do and enjoy my day programming much better. Same with the VST.
But as we are talking Music and Instruments here... For me it's:
- Ana 2 - My go to
- Hive 2 - Love it
- SynthMaster 2.9 (Everything Bundle)
- Pigments 3 - Love it (sound quality really does stand out imo)
- Zebra 2 or Zebra 2 HZ (Dark)
- PhasePlant - Love it
- Vital - Love it
- NI Komplete 12U - Massive
- I have FLStudio (FULL) but I used BitWig but use FLStudio as a VSTi multi instrument controlled from BitWig and ImageLine completely F**** UP their VST standalone programming and don't support them anymore either so I control FLStudio as an instrument from BitWig so I got Sytrus, Harmor, Harmless, OGun, Sawer & Morphine are back on menu and they are good, I especially love Harmor & Sytrus, their new one also Flex is quite nice, especially since they have now added a decent amount of presets so we can now hear what it's capable of and quite a lot of the presets are quite nice.
- PolySynth & Phase 4 built into Bitwig (really good instruments)
- NI Komplete 12U - Reaktor 6 (But there's so much inside this that it would double this list, some are excellent, some are yet to be discovered and some are complete shait, NI screwed up packing this all into 1 instrument in a discoverability sense)
- Serum - Its good, but I don't think it deserves the praiz
- Spire
- SynthMaster One (I will usually end up in SynthMaster 2.9 though)
- NI Komplete 12U - Massive X (I'm a bit meh on this one)
- Analogue Lab 4 but now 5 (some good stuff here)
- NI Komplete 12U - Absynth 5
- NI Komplete 12U - FM8
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - WoodWind Solo
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Some of the pianos (maverick, gentleman etc but now replaced most of them with UVI Model D and some cheap one that cost like $5 lol (the UVI piano bundle is way way better for pianos than anything Native Instruments (NI) has imo.
Kontakt - Olympus Elements - NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Session Horns Pro
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Factory Selection
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Vintage Organs
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Session Strings Pro 2
- NI Komplete 12U - Kontakt - Analog Dreams
- Kontakt - Shreddage 3 (Stratus, Archtop, Jupiter and Rogue) - use these a lot but I don't make thrash or metal music. Oddly Ana 2 has 2 or 3 guitar instruments which sound awesome too, which I do use often in compliment.
- Kontakt - Voices of Rapture
- Kontakt - Voiced of Wind Adey
- Kontakt - Pad Therapy
- Kontakt - Perception
- Kontakt - Sodium
- Kontakt - ZeroG - Ethera series (all)
- Kontakt - ZeroG - Degrees of Abstract
- VPS Avenger (really pisses me off with the re-activation process every 90 days and it's not that easy to work out, I just have a bad feeling that it's just not going to re-activate one of these days, it has some great sounds but I'm also not a billion air so I'm not paying $50 is it? for 50 sounds per a pack, of which I will probably only like 10 or if very lucky 20, so I typically stay away. But it does a lot and I mean a lot, way more than I've worked out. Very nice instrument though.
But if your that into sound design then you should have:
- PhasePlant & Toolbox Ultimate
- Vital - Purchased for all the extras and vocal synth access and then go to the forums and find every monthly share thread and download everything
- Serum - and we all know what that's about, but with the other 2 around, I just use it's presets now.

Exactly, you are experienced artist that have personal preference, think that's your advantage over 90% of people trying to figure out and make techno, you can easily get a grip of things and than do your own twist with them, having background in another genre is big plus, you probably got some habits that will define your signature techno sound, probably you will excel at some harder techno sound, so just utilize your guns to your advantage!LeVzi wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:36 pm Love that studio, and yeah he makes use of them. It's so wierd that I was in the car with the wife and she had a techno playlist on her Spotify playing and I really liked it. So I figured time to move away from the hard styles and try something new. Really interesting learning about it and listening to the DJs that play it, such a change in attitude and tempo.Passing Bye wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:48 pmExactly, you are experienced artist that have personal preference, think that's your advantage over 90% of people trying to figure out and make techno, you can easily get a grip of things and than do your own twist with them, having background in another genre is big plus, you probably got some habits that will define your signature techno sound, probably you will excel at some harder techno sound, so just utilize your guns to your advantage!LeVzi wrote: Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:36 pm Love that studio, and yeah he makes use of them.
