Is there any setting that syncs 1st step to DAW start/play? It seems it just continues with last step played -- example: if 16 step pattern and I stop playback at step 7, it picks up at step 8 upon DAW play. Thanks!

I think Audiomodern implemented it this way to ensure the sequencer phase starts where it normally would if it played from the begining. Generally speaking this is preferable vs having it start always from the beginning no matter what. It was probably an either/or decision and they went with what they felt would be the most common use-case. You could just ask them to put in a toggle to turn that off and hope they do.
