Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 12:54 pm How does feedback work in VM? One block delay?
in principal 1 sample delay.

output goes back through input, but must of course first being processed.

the processSample function (of the super Module, but then as an object.....) is called 48.000 times per second, the internal sample rate of VM.

of course it depends on how a module is designed (sometimes something can't be done without introducing delay, if there is more latency or delay, per module.

and java was always multi-threaded, so processSample, does not have to all the work of course.. but timing issues. of course it is the developer that makes everything steady, that all is in time, just in time....

in my experience it works, never encountered this problem, and if i encountered it, i used it...

but it can be a problem;

there is certainly one module that can 'fix' this, a delay module (delay for processing..). or a plugin via plugin host, for example, can add latency. so, for these kinds of problems are solutions, and thes solutions can also be used the other way around, modular!

(disclaimer: i am not a developer, i am starting to design, on paper a module, but will take a lot of time, because my main focus is making music... java isn't the problem...)

demo it, use it!

The TAO in its simple form is an additive oscillator, but one with 28 harmonics. First dial in how many harmonics you want to use, then drag the slider to set the volume for a specific harmonic.

The real beauty of the TAO however shows when you use multiple TAOs. In that case you can use each of them as either CARRIER or MODULATOR. To do that, take the output of a second (MODULATOR) TAO in to the PM or FM inputs of the first (CARRIER) TAO. This way, when dialing up the PM, you end up with sounds that remind of the DX7 or Synclavier, where you could think of each TAO as an operator. By using multiple TAOs, you can recreate the 'algorithms' of the DX7 for instance, while still having more options because every 'operator' is also an additive synthesizer.

In Chinese philosophy TAO is 'The Way' Find yours using TAO!

Will definitely be checking this out. Cool tracks! :tu:
i have edited the post, there is now an instruction video, so you see and hear the possibilities.
also added, who made this module...

i am only a humble beta tester, that splits oscillators...

and thanks, about the tracks remark!

For anyone interested, introduction price for the RFM-TAO is valid 'till June 15th

yeah they had some weird 503 error stuff yesterday too, think maybe they’ve been working on the servers, but it’s not great having a cloud authentication model if your cloud server goes tits up

This looks quite nice though is going to take up a lot of screen real estate

Looks a bit like my Akai Fire, I’d rather use a hardware controller for that purpose…

Post

To me it looks more like a Polyend device. But well, I also have two Akai Fires and if they can control this module I would be more than delighted. :)

Yep. Looks like a Tracker to me as well. Could be fun.

Dreamscape Chapter 3 is ready, in two parts;

Image

Hello World,

This is Dreamscape Chapter Three: "Spectral Plains". Just like all other chapters of Dreamscape all sounds used in this project are created using Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular only. The composition and mixing has been done using FL Studio.

Some facts and figures of Dreamscape Chapter Three:
- project tracks: 172
- mixer channels: 94
- amount of stems used: 107
- total playtime: 18:05 (approx.)
- total time spend on the composition and mixing (FL Studio time only): 23 hours and 52 minutes

All sounds are made by various artists around the globe. The artists that contributed for chapter three are: MLC Vanamsterdam, Radu Sover, Hans Holema, Sada Exposada, Jim Dunn, Luc van de Sande and Sam Nelson.

The guidelines for chapter three were: Theme: "Spectral Plains", BPM: 98, Scale: C Dorian SCALE (C = Root | C D D# F G A A#) and Genre: No-limitations.

Chapter three is split in two parts, of which the end of part two is a bit more experimental then part one. Nice detail is that when I first started this project, I invisioned it all as an experimental art piece just like the end of part two. In highsight I am very pleased and proud to see how this project developed over time. The wide variety in musical genres that come together is just amazing.

My goal is to reach an hour of music. At the moment we are at around 45 minutes. So, I expect Chapter 4 might be... the final chapter?
