I have installed Win 10 a bunch of times without Microsoft accounts. The setup is pretty misleading, strongly implies that it is a requirement and you have to go poking around at small text away from the dialogue to escape. This is absolutely a "dark pattern". And clearly this wasn't enough, now it's online accounts for everything? It's daft, not every computer login is a different person but clean isolated environments are useful.

so your convenience is more important than your client's possible needs? good advice.
What convenience?! It's the opposite señor! It's easier for me to just put for them whatever on the market that's Windows 11 certified! Why bother myself explaining ! Anyway, my most clients are friends or friends of friends or family. So, I just let them see what I have and they can choose. If they want Windows 11, they get it!
if you say so. But that's not what you wrote.

Weird how many "switch to Mac" comments are here when the main concerns (hardware deprecation, pressure to update, online account requirement) are all things that Aplle does already.

I said "I think I won't deal with Windows 11". I don't have a contract with Microsoft regarding Windows (although I do have a long term relation with Microsoft and can suggest other products, but not about Windows).

Anyway, I'm just wasting time here while I need to do other things! Bye!

Thanks for telling us. I really couldn't have slept well without it. ;)

Jeez, KVR is really a bunch of weirdos for the most part.
You must feel right at home then with the rest of us. ;)

But on topic, i've never seen so many devoted mac users moving to windows machines over the last year or so since mac updates have made so much unstable. People who historically have crisitised windows non stop for it's invasive privacy stuff. (if you know how to disable most of it, you have nothing to worry about)

Apple dropped a bollock with Catalina and it's been one train wreck after another since then. Ableton on Mac is unbelievably unstable from what I can see, which never was the case.

I can say one thing for windows, thats a fact, its gotten more and more stable over the years.

It's a similar story where I work. When I started here, around 6 years ago, I think there was only one other guy, in a team of 24, who was on PC at home. Today our team is much smaller, down to only 13, but only 3 or 4 of them are still using Macs at home. Here it is not so much the updates, they have just seen how much better the software we use performs on PC and how much more bang they can get for their bucks.
