What type of samples Does everyone think is the best for glitch style electronica.. FOr those of you that dont know this is IDM style insect music.. I think that hip hop samples are great when you set the decay to virtually 0 for the high hats and very small for the snare. ALSO step filters are great for this style of music but i cant find a free one? anybody know of one?

Yah i've tried that and i think it would be great for the BD's but i found that Drumsynth by Mda is excelent for snares and GREAT (actually mandatory) for claps and snaps/ stacked hip hop claps.. (which you can shorten the decay on to make interesting IDM snares. Check it out... its made by MDA. if you cant find it ill try to find the link again. Still can't find a step filter though.

That limelite thing from NI (free standalone on CM a few months ago) is excellent for doing autechre style broken beats.

I'm thinking... You could create a step filter, by using any old filter, and then using the CC in the midi editor of you seq (the one that works with velocity, not the evelope thing)

Get an Audio CD you don't like or burn a Cd with material you want to mess with. Now Scratch it untill it looks like it will play havoc with your ripping software. Now rip it! Glitches a plenty. Edit into small bites and add reverb. Hey presto Done!

This is good advise.
Don't forget why Glitch music is called Glitch.
Another tip: Severely overload your soundcard and record that.
Or: get an old record-player and use it in ways that would make the manufacturer cry.
Get an old casette-tape, pull it out of the casette, mangle it, put it back in and record the result.
And so on.
