Apparently? Source for this? I'd be surprised if they didn't use the same code because why reinvent the wheel when the EQ is one part of the channel strip and that part was already modeled.

It wouldn't have the compressor - but isn't this most of the channel strip?

They're both absolutely different, I mean, look at those 8Khz shelf curves... they really fine-tuned the new one to the top. The game has been changed again. I mean, Di*k is well known for never copy/paste code and innovate 100% with each plugin, everyone knows that, right?

Oh, the curves are really "absolutely" different

The PA business idea has always been: to program something new with little effort and give it a well-known name. Then to animate the people to buy it. If that doesn't work in the first attempt, as an offer for $99 it surely works.
Dirk already knows how to make a lot of money with little effort.... somehow he has to finance his expensive hobby :D

Btw. I remember the statement of Nat Raubenheimer (Protoculture) who also regularly tests the PA plugins on YouTube... but finds most of the PA plugins rather mediocre and is not a big friend of PA at all

The pro's I've seen demonstrated them seem to do fine.

Absolutely. You should always buy all the latest plugins Michael Brauer and Dave Pensado tell you to use. Do not doubt it for a second.

I don't have source, it's just based on their (and other devs) marketing.
Have you ever seen developer saying "yeah we just reused code from this old plugin in this new one which is a game changer gods revelation you never saw before"? ;) No. Instead you hear and see them saying how many years they spend, how many people died in sacrifice to create this new wonderful, never seen before piece of art that will revolutionise the world :D PA is known to act like they're always delivering something new and revolutionary while in reality it's nothing new, often proven in tests. And when you can prove that, then you're a hater ;)
Like with the description about TMT which sounds like they emulated AMEK console while, if I remember correctly, TMT doesn't emulate any particular console at all.

The Ameq EQ clearly states on the product page it is modelled on the EQ from the Amek 9098i - most likely, from what Dirk said in the 9099 video, it was modelled from his personal favourite Amek channel strip rack unit, itself based on the channel strip from the console 9098i.

So yes, they'd already done the work modelling the 9098i EQ, so no need to do it again. (I'm sure that once they'd decided to model the full console channel strip, they probably at least checked the EQ behaviour across a few real console channels just to confirm whether there were any differences).

I'm not sure why people are surprised at this, or why they think something is trying to be hidden - both plugins clearly state what components they are modelling, and the EQ in this case is likely to be the same code, as they are emulating the same circuits, unless some of the plugins have EQ features not in the other one...

Because they like to whine.

Even if similar, it just makes sense to me. People seem to really like the EQ also. I think the EQ has a very useable layout.

Seems this new strip has incremental improvements over older ones, which is as you would expect. I think it looks like a good channel strip.

PA is a company, not a developer.

Then we have marketing, and reality. You're worried about the marketing. The reality is a developer, an actual coder, is going to reuse stuff. There is no reason not to reuse the code. The EQ is already emulating part of the channel strip.

TMT is just variations in a given channel and clearly has been around a lot longer than the AMEK channel strip. "TMT" the name is marketing. TMT the code makes sure there are variations between the different strips of the virtual console to emulate variations in the strips in a real console. This is not new news.

And honestly if it bothers you that much don't buy their stuff.
