Yeah, I know what are you talking about, I was into actual thing not that long ago, some old PC with Windows XP, Reaper and lot of fun, than I would turn to my ancient Macbook and fun with Logic continues, dunno, felt like a kid again playing in corner of my room with my imagination (didn't had much toys back than), at one point I really got sick of music making and when I got back to it with different mindset, it felt awesome again, whole that retro phase was heart warming for me and think it was when I got into Bitwig that I felt back in love with music making again, so I just keep hanging on that feeling!
Have a blast my friend!

Guys I'm gonna use this to ask a stupid BitWig question. Yesterday I was (in BitWig 4 beta) processing a sample of cymbal clanks (like someone hitting cymbals wildly and you record it from the next room) with the bitwig bitcrusher (+pitch and other stuff) until I found a clock setting that gave a type of resonant humm. I proceeded to build a beat around how the clanks sounded. I had like 4-5 different parts, when I pressed the "comping" button (to try it out) and record another part, the sound of the manipulated cymbal sample suddenly changed. The resonant humm was gone and the sample sounded darker in tone. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get it back. I couldnt find a setting I changed accidentally. Anyone ever experience something like this? Am I going crazy?

Perhaps the new recording replaced the original cymbals at the top comp lane and it simply sounds different when processed by that bitcrusher + pitch shifter? Or maybe you found some bug, which you should report?gExpectations wrote: Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:31 am Guys I'm gonna use this to ask a stupid BitWig question. It actually feels like a bit of a missed opportunity marketing-wise that they didn't highlight some new features from the 3.x releases in the v4 marketing materials. Something like a montage at the end of the v4 video showing all the mainline features from 3.1 through 3.3 that people who don't follow every minor update may have missed out on. Would make v4 look much more impressive to a casual audience.pdxindy wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 2:06 pm Go look at the changelog for V4 and compare that to V3.3 and 3.2. They are all approximately the same in terms of number of new features.
It's quite obvious that Bitwig's version numbers are pretty arbitrary, and more of a marketing/sales tool than a real reflection of the amount of changes contained in the update.

It may seem arbitrary from our user perspective, but that may not be so from the devs perspective.Dionysos wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 2:41 pmIt's quite obvious that Bitwig's version numbers are pretty arbitrary, and more of a marketing/sales tool than a real reflection of the amount of changes contained in the update.
V2 added the current modulator system
V3 was the Grid
V4 is the one that seems less significant, but perhaps they had to make major changes under the hood to implement the new v4 features and set the stage for what may come in 4.1 and 4.2.

Yup- I was convinced the much discussed (and advertised from V1) 'Network Sharing' was the guaranteed headline feature for V4.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I wonder what that will look like if it does come. I have no idea what they mean by Network Sharing.SLiC wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 3:34 pm Yup- I was convinced the much discussed (and advertised from V1) 'Network Sharing' was the guaranteed headline feature for V4.

Wait, so is this coming to Bitwig4 or is this something they touted from version 1 and never did?

Oh yeah I remember that. It's been a while since they mentioned that. Would be cool if they did get it work though.

That was from before V1 even shipped as a future feature sometime after V1. It will not be in V4.0

Probably couldn't figure out how to make it work with the yearly update plans

Network Sync was one of the features I was most interested in (I have 3 PC's in my studio over 2 rooms)
I haven't given up hope, after all they still say its coming soon on the current website (for the last 2 years

I just keep my stuff on a NAS box as I run both Windows and macOS on three different computers. If I remember correctly, Bitwig was pretty okay with this. That's a sketchy memory and it's been a couple of years. Live and Studio One are fine with this. Logic is generally okay with it as well.SLiC wrote: Fri Jul 02, 2021 10:16 am Network Sync was one of the features I was most interested in (I have 3 PC's in my studio over 2 rooms)
