I got the upgrade to Pro 11, and i'm stunned, its performance increase is amazing, its so much faster, sleeker and the ASIO meter has dropped about 10% from 10.5
I like the improvements to the GUI too.

As I understand, you're buying a license to the latest version. So when you install/activate it, you should get the current version. Apparently, it doesn't matter when you buy it, it matters when you activate it.codec_spurt wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 8:24 pmStill got my v10 waiting to go which should give me the latest version. I've bought them: 2 x Elements and 1 x Pro.pixel85 wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 7:51 pm I'll update to 11 but I'll (try to) wait with activation until December to get 11.5 for free.
I know I say in other threads I use these, but actually I'm still using the AI or other stripped down versions. Not trying to be deceptive, it's all the same to me.
Theoretically of course when I plug my dongle in and go through the hell that is the Steinberg licensing centre, I should be good with latest versions. I think that's how it works.
I bought all these versions on their annual 40 percent off sale, and it makes Cubase quite reasonably priced really when you consider what you get.
Been using it for a third of a Century in all its guises, so no rush really. Same old Cubase. Great software. Prolly a few bugs. Maybe not the best support from Steinberg (though they can be good too, depending).
You can buy genuine old licenses here at KVR or on eBay (if you dare) and they will take the price down quite a bit as well. Bought one for 9 quid! Here on KVR and that shaved off some serious bucks with the sale. That's why I bought 3 seats. It didn't cost that much really. LE I think it was, I had several AI with hardware I bought.
Make the most of this because it will be gone in a few days and won't come around for another year again.
Great Software, just ask CompyFox!

But it's the first time I'm doing it so I have no previous experience. Before I was updating and activating the same day.

I have a Cubase Pro 10.5 license but totally removed it from my rig. I don't think I could ever go back to Cubase until Steinberg fixes that outdated audio engine that cuts out during playback every time you make any changes or edits.

If you own another DAW the crossgrade is $203 USD, if you own the elicenser. Maybe an additional $30 with it. Crazy how inexpensive such a great DAW is.

Can you move tracks around from the mixer in Cubase 11? I remember that was a major pain in 10.5 having to jump over to the arranger view each time I needed to rearrange tracks.

$150 to update from C 6.5, it cost me $250 for 6.5-10.5 at the last mega sale and i'm sure that was 50% off... go figure.
Great deals anyways

Yes, it is an outdated audio engine. A lot of newer DAWs like Studio One and Bitwig will allow editing in real time time while the engine is running. I guess it would take a big re-write to make that work. Personally, I like Cubase and it has a lot of things in its favour so not a show stopper for me. But it would be great if they could implement it, I agree.summer2000 wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 9:20 pm I have a Cubase Pro 10.5 license but totally removed it from my rig. One thing that really annoy me and should have been fixed a long time ago. Maybe in C12?dellboy wrote: Fri Jul 02, 2021 11:11 amYes, it is an outdated audio engine. I may go ahead and buy the upgrade at the discounted price but wait to see if 11.5 will address the missing features I need before activating the license. Anyone else doing the same?

I will. What features are missing in C11?summer2000 wrote: Fri Jul 02, 2021 12:18 pm I may go ahead and buy the upgrade at the discounted price but wait to see if 11.5 will address the missing features I need before activating the license. Anyone else doing the same?

The missing feature mentioned is a "gapless audio engine".pixel85 wrote: Fri Jul 02, 2021 12:25 pmI will. But in reality there are no missing features in any DAWs until we start comparing. Comparisons are the curse of the modern age. We hardly get use to one thing and the next "better" thing is just around the corner. But compared to tape splicing from the 1960s I would say that Cubase has its nose out in front by quite a margin.
