Just use the WAV files and one of the mappings (of course, I'd be pushing the sfz format mapping...).

EXS24 in Logic Audio (pretty much the same as kontakt/halion). Mixed and arranged with care. Have a look in the manuals, there are some tips and tricks there.which format was used to record the kingston-demos?
kontact , halion or whatever?
Don't worry about it. There are better ways to it. Use the suggested SFZ conversions with the free SFZ sampler for example. I consider them superior to SF2 in every way.oh crap, it looks like it'll be way harder than i thought...

yep,but for those using soundblasters sf2 still is a good reorce.
i use sounblastrer for midi, and recently i bought a used "pulsar" creamware(stiil to learn to use).
Additionaly,i 've buyed (a lot ago) cakewalk pro ,not sonar, so not dxi or whatever, and i can play just sf2 (with 0 latency).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem is:always i hear the demos around BOOMBASTIC,then after i download the sf2 is ALWAYS sounding poor and thyn,or buggy.
--------------------
I have free sf2 strings and others th are sounding relly good,so i believe its possible to get good sound, but
as far as i know the "converters" ( cdXtract ,Awave and so on) did not convert well IN sf2 the various formats, its just formally supported.
i have also a bunch of free samples taken from italian magazines, converted by a friend(he own cdXtract ) in sf2:
1 cd("general banks") he got converted really cool ,another 1 (synths stuff) got converted in super crappy sounds ,a matter of luck .
really a pity, that format is so conforatable .

That one was great at the time I was using free drums : www.tchackpoum.net
I had made a good track with it you can listen to it here : http://bebop.audioshot.net/Garage_session.mp3
It's old but you can hear my voice on it too
[EDIT] reminds me also of this extremely good site in flash that lets you create instant loops with your pc keyboard with real time graphic animation, all instant in flash (get the plugin) http://www.pianographique.net/
A real must even in the loops quality and sounds proposed to your triggering

I noticed this with some of my conversions as well. Cdxtract has a mind of it's own and does whatever it pleases. No matter how crappy the keymappings turn out at least it never forgot to include all of the audio files.1 cd("general banks") he got converted really cool ,another 1 (synths stuff) got converted in super crappy sounds ,a matter of luck .

Cheers Greg, it's good to hear: the more weight gets behind the format, the more René's going to feel appreciated add in my suggestionsLunch Money wrote:Yay, SFZ!
pljones, off-topic, but did you notice that Extreme Sample Converter now offers SFZ as an output file type? I know you probably won't use it still, but as an SFZ buff, I figured you should know.

Certainly has the pedigree. I'll get the WAVs mapped up tomorrow (unless someone beats me to it) in sfz format and have a play. (And post the format, of course.)olepro wrote:Here is a free SIMON PHILLIPS drum kit

Extreme Sample Converter tends to be the answer to everything. Battery mappings are plain text (well, marked up XML, but plain text really).alexlotta wrote:sorry the o.t.:
exist a translator from battery format also?
Mmm, yes, I would imagine buying Battery would actually cost "less" than two hours of my time... But I'd probably be better of getting E.S.C... or waiting for Steve Holt to add Battery conversion to sfZed.olepro wrote:Pity you dont have Battery...

You can get the sfz format mapping of the Session Loops free kit over on my website now and I'll be letting the Session Loops people know imminently.
I don't think it's as good as Michael Kingston's kits... Nice samples but I don't think it works as a kit so well. Perhaps because the sampling sessions weren't intended for that purpose? Anyway, it's playable. Full set of toms, no ride bell or hihat "chick"/pedal sound. Three crashes (with just one layer each). The open hats are chopped short, sadly.
