Presonus' website says that v5 requires Win10 as minimum, but apparently v4 should run on 7:

EDIT: checked with archive.org and the above listing info seems correct.

Win 7 before, now, and forever - S1 ver 4.5.(?6 - not on right now)

Post

Yes, Windows 7 was listed in the system requirements as the bottom line OS for Studio One 4.

Version 4.6.2 runs perfectly fine on Win 7 x64 here.

I wonder if there is something specific in Windows 10 that Studio One v5 requires (somehow I doubt it) or PreSonus has tested v5 on Windows 10 only and do not wish to support v5 on Windows 7.

That goes for some other manufacturers too. That seems to me to be cutting off quite a sizeable market, even now, that Windows 7 is EOL.

The Presonus Hub won't install on Windows versions before 10, so it really is a requirement.

You don't need the Hub if you're not using their native plugins in other DAWs in VST3 format.

(maybe it's necessary for Sphere, I've no idea)

I assume that if they have made it impossible to install the Hub, then they will probably have done the same for Studio One 5.

I downloaded s1 5 prime and tried to run it in Win 7 the installer says.......this installer requires Win 10.

Great to see you around. Thanks for chiming in. I was kinda bummed but not enough to turn my system upside down. I could run what I have for the next ten years if the HW stays together. Reaper 6.29 and a hand full of vsts.

I know you are quite familiar with Reaper. Do you use S1 also?

You know you can still upgrade for free to windows 10 from W7. I just did it this week on a minimal machine that i use for the internet.

May I ask why you haven't upgraded?

But would you also do it on an older PC that you use for making music if you don't know if all components and software will still function properly after upgrading?
