I regularly see the same posters making the same complaints about the same PA plug-ins on multiple websites, endlessly waging one-man media campaigns that convince nobody. Even compulsive analyst Dan Worrall in his new video doesn't care that the THD isn't oversampled or that it's non-existent when other components are bypassed or all the other dead horses. The criticisms inevitably involve personal comments about Dirk Ulrich, which strongly suggests their disdain for him is their real motivation. Along with the endless pricing and oversampling discussions, it's rare to find commentary on the sound and workflow from people who use these tools to make music heard by other humans.

What else is funny is that once the same criticisms keep happening over and over and over as they do here and on Gearspace they're no longer constructive. And "valid" really depends. Your valid and mine might not match. It's a public music forum and unless a mod steps in and says stop it you're obviously free to complain as much as you want, just like others are free to complain about your complaining.Ploki wrote: Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:11 pm it's funny how people who barge in these threads just to complain about people who offer valid criticism do nothing but -ironically- criticise other people.

The Dan Worrall video is great. Love the depth he goes into.

Dan's analysis is not different at all from the very in-depth case-studies Ploki has shared over the years about many PA game changers. You will take Dan's word but will tell Ploki to be quiet... oh the "irony" (pun intended for those who may have a clue).

In-depth studies of Dirk Ulrich's McLaren, perhaps. Dan's analysis is different. For example, one of the things Ploki loves to reference on GS, KVR, YouTube, and so on is "non-oversampled THD." Dan demonstrates that it produces practically inaudible aliasing and that, as someone who actually uses his ears, he likes the sound of the THD anyway. He also praises PA and Brainworx for producing quality products.escalona wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 3:23 am Dan's analysis is not different at all from the very in-depth case-studies Ploki has shared over the years about many PA game changers. One is free to disregard Dan Worrall's opinions, of course, but that's a significant endorsement from a well-regarded engineer who's known for his technical analysis. He also doesn't have a personal hatred of Dirk Ulrich, which is another significant difference from certain people in this thread. I'm reminded of the Herman Melville quote, "from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."
I think much of the hysteria over PA--the pricing discussions, the obsession with oversampling, the weird fixation on Dirk Ulrich himself--comes from stressed out plug-in addicts who are constantly afraid of being hoodwinked by their plug-ins, always suspicious of being tricked by large companies into buying something that will somehow devalue their productions, if indeed they ever actually produce anything heard by other humans. I have a message for these suffering souls: most people who are using these tools that you're fretting so much over just quietly use them to finish their work. They don't post about company founders and agonize over PluginDoctor graphs.
You'll often find examples of this divide between people who are using these tools to get work done and people who are just trying to build Pokemon collections at minimum expense. For example, many producers are still using classic Waves plug-ins including the ancient SSL strip, yet the consensus among forum posters leans toward Waves being the devil because their plug-ins are old and they make money (the nerve!) by charging for update plans. It's also why plug-in addicts are so fond of lesser-known one-man development shops--they feel as if they're discovering treasures not known to the public at bargain prices. Witness how many times a new Fuse Audio plug-in thread receives proud "buying this without demoing" comments as if the inventory is going to run out.
Dan's video makes two very important points. One is to listen with your ears, a skill many unlicensed Plugin Doctors have long forgotten. The other is that if the plug-in helps you get quicker results, than it is valuable to you. You can stop stressing over whether it is good enough or if you got tricked. You're already getting results. Just finish the music.
It won't stop Dirk Ulrich anti-fans, of course. In every thread, we'll continue to hear about the sins of Dirk Ulrich and that dastardly aliasing which will no doubt cost you a Grammy. And did you know the Amek channel strip's EQ matches the existing bx_2098? Scandalous! It's as if they're modeling the same hardware. If only people were already told years ago that a channel strip was in the works based on the bx_2098. Instead, I know what car Dirk Ulrich drives and that he mocked a troll on Facebook. This sort of valuable technical analysis will no doubt inform my next purchase--thank goodness I've read it at least five times on multiple websites.

All your arguments are absolutely pointless. Why improve on anything? People could get from A-B with 1800s cars. You could watch TV with a 5" monochrome TV.
Just use ur ears bro!
Beside knowing what kind of car dirk drives because he sold you same shit 5 times already, you also get to know that he sold you same shit 5 times already.
You can PM me, maybe I have some plugin licenses you'd like to pay me 5 times for.
What every single one of you people have in common is that you consistently come into these thread explicitly to gang bang on people who criticise PA without offering any valuable insight -whatsoever-.
News flash - like a plugin company is not a personality trait. If I say shit about PA or Dirk, i'm not insulting you personally. get a f**king grip.
Also so what even if i did only collect plugins? How is that even an argument? Does that somehow make my opinion about technical aspects of plugins less valid than of some bloke who inserts it, uses 4 presets and calls it a game-changer?

If you're fretting over inaudible monochrome TVs and 1800s cars in PluginDoctor, you need to stop mixing with your eyes. More interesting are your complaints about people "coming into" the thread--as if they're trespassing on your property--and your anger when anyone challenges your crusade. Many of us have seen your manic spam on multiple websites by now. One of us definitely needs to get a grip and stop taking things personally.
Since you edited this in: yes, it does. The person who uses four presets to finish making music has used these tools to complete the journey. You're filling out a Pokedex with the latest and greatest, and your agenda is in question. I suspect you're constantly stressed about money. That is not a fun way to live, friend. Also so what even if i did only collect plugins? How is that even an argument? You can add me to foe/ignore/block lists everywhere if I bug you that much, really.bonch wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:16 am If you're fretting over inaudible monochrome TVs and 1800s cars in PluginDoctor, you need to stop mixing with your eyes. I'm not going into "mixing with your eyes" argument, i checked PA plugins because they sounded weird. I didn't know plugindoctor existed before I downloaded PA plugs, because the need for it never arised.
I'm not complaining about people coming into the threads explicitly to try and tell me off, i'm merely observing that that is the only thing they have to say and do. They don't challenge me or anything I say, they, or better, you, resort to personal attacks against and some half-assed attempts of discreditation because you're for some reason offended i said a bad thing about a plugin and a company you like.
Yeah, one of us do. Block me, add me to foe list, whatever. It's as easy as that. If that's not enough - if you feel that me factually pointing out that 9099 is rehash of 10 other plugins by PA is off topic of 9099, or personally offensive somehow, report me to mods.
Or you can stalk me cross-platform, it doesn't look creepy at all
No, not really, i don't have a lot of plugins at all.bonch wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:16 am Since you edited this in: yes, it does. This whole thing started because i bought PA plugs, was happy using them, then i found something fishy with a few of them, and Dirk thought best course of action is to get into a fight with someone.
Yeah, stressing about money is not a fun way to live. You found the crux of capitalism in a KVR post - that's f**king incredible.
No actually, i'm fine buying a plugin I know i'll use and recoup in one production for 200$ - i actually prefer that type of plugins over 29$ bargain bin unmaintained crap, because i know it's worth investing my time in and that it'll keep working.
You can have few tools, read manuals, and use them, or you can have 500 plugins you know nothing about and use 4 presets - both is absolutely legitimate, but i prefer the former.
And please, please, tell me how that makes me opinion about technical aspects of a plugin less valid?
A watch repair shop doesn't make watches, but they know more about them than people who wear them daily. Maybe i never made any music and i'm just fascinated by inner workings of audio and plugins?
