Nobody has an issue with people pointing out unfixed bugs or poor customer support or even technical issues, such as the digital cramping in the new channel strip EQ. It's the fixation on Dirk Ulrich across multiple websites. Ploki regularly re-opens this old wound which is how I knew about it before he mentioned it yet again:
Ploki wrote: Tue Jul 06, 2021 9:31 am Fact is that a lot of people were personally attacked by Dirk. Generally, plugin devs don’t go around various social platforms attacking random people for expressing an opinion or stating a fact about their plugin. I think it’s a valid aspect of a company and developer.
He's not motivated by technical concerns. He just hates Dirk Ulrich and anything his company puts out due to some weird personal history with him. Now the crusade is targeting Dan Worrall with a lie about a paid endorsement from Brainworx despite Dan making it clear in the first 30 seconds of the video that Brainworx had no involvement. The nonsense is unending.
Dear bonch, it's not only personal. It is also personal, but di*k's history (for those who care to know) it's full of utterly unprofessional attacks on many different people for pointing out objective information about products he manages. Should we talk now about the day Di*k yelled on facebook "all lives matter"? or when he insulted WhiteSea guy (which I personally dislike to be honest) calling him "******" and "autistic" publicly as the head of a company?
It seems to me that the issue here could be summarized in this:
  • people criticize product
  • people who like product (or like supreme leader of said product) attack personally people criticizing product or supreme leader
If the personal opinions of forum contributors annoy you, click on our names and click on "add foe" and you won't hear back from us, but please do not attack people for whatever opinions they may have that are not directed against you as a person.

Congratulations to you anti-PA/Dirk agenda folk, you've successfully ruined yet another thread where a few people just wanted to have a balanced discussion about a new product release. Mission accomplished. :tu:

Strange... To me it looks just the other way round...

"I don't care. Get over me!"
I have made a mistake of calling it a paid video - it's obviously not. I've watched about 70% of it now and i in large agree with it.
Thats a pretty tepid apology. Is he still a paid shill? :uhuhuh:

Don't blame us. Blame the source PA/D*rk - if there was nothing to complain about we wouldn't be complaining. I always appreciate it when customers post their experiences and opinions not only about products but about the company as well - both play into my purchase decisions. For those that do not care about such context, just ignore those posts. Learn to us the internet for heavens sake. People aren't going to not post things just becasuse *you* don't like it. Internet 101.

Why tepid? How more explicit can i be?
I AM EXTREMELY SORRY FOR SAYING DAN WORRALL VIDEO WAS A PAID PROMOTION. IT WAS A MISTAKE ON MY PART

I never used word shill, and i never even criticised the video

Wow, Dan Worrall really kills the plugin in that video. Dissing PA's sales tactics, showing why TMT is useless, calling out so much other flaws and issues. And even nulling the eq with Pro-Q3

According to White Sea Studio, it was the founder of Acustica Audio who accused him of having a personality disorder. I say start a Dirk Ulrich thread as a repository for all this drama.

Don't pretend this is about the plug-ins. You just wrote another paragraph about Dirk Ulrich and posted a collage of people's comments on Facebook (which is weird as hell). We don't care about this guy like you do. Ploki is capable of acting reasonably and acknowledging he was wrong about Dan's video--I'm sure we'd find ourselves on the same page regarding other issues if personal vendettas were left out of the discussion.

Spoiler: He ended up liking the plugin, thinking it sounded pretty good and interesting, and has basically decided to buy a licence when the price comes down to more reasonable levels.

Which is more positive towards it than I was, but there you go...

He actually doesn't "kill the plugin". Far from it. And as pointed out he ultimately liked the plugin. Think you need to watch again.

His point on TMT was insightful (why when you're just going to be EQing, etc) but ultimately doesn't mean anything. I mean the same could be said for real consoles ;) The point of this is to emulate those. They give you the ability to turn it off so if you don't think its necessary either just leave it alone or turn it off.

I think his usability comments were far more interesting.

Tepid because "I made a mistake" is not "i apologize". Thanks for the fix.

Post

There's a guy on the FB that replicated Dan's aliasing test, but this time without driving the input so hard the signal goes into clipping. I can't stick the images from the post here, but here's his post text, which I thought was interesting:
I did the same test that Dan Worrall did about Amek. He pushed it hard until the breakpoint of the plugin, which is creating internal clipping (You drive the input) and he is adding +24 dB at 9K with TDH at a maximum which is -30dB.

His test is there to prove there is no oversampling and he is correct.

But how about If we create the same test, but this time avoid internal clipping? As you can see, I started a sinewave sweep and looped very high frequencies over and over. THD all the way up, +24 dB at 9K, and I even pushed the output fader all the way up. BTW this is not a real-life scenario, there are meters that show you, you are pushing it hard and calm down.

Anyway, As you can see, in a use, AMEK stays clean, aliasing is not like Dan shows on his video. Which he also states, I am not trying to show you that he is wrong, he is right but, some tests won't represent the real-life usage. You will never end up push +24 dB at 9K. I never did in my 25 years of career. As long as you keep eye on the input meters, you won't have any audible issues and it won't affect your mixing badly.

Dan did a great job to show some downsides but he also states that "if it sounds good to you, nobody cares". He tries to null Amek with Fabfilter. In usage, as the workflow is different you will never get the same result that you get from Amek with a Fabfilter like EQ. You will end up with 2 completely different sounding mixes and the choice is yours. All the other things are your choice of taste.

I don't use Consoles, I use Fabfilter but I wanted to be fair as well.
He shows graphs backing his tests up as well, but this should also help reassure people who are suspicious of the THD knob because of the lack of oversampling - basically, his results show that even cranking the THD up, if you're running sensible levels and are not maxing the crap out of everything, aliasing doesn't appear to be a problem in normal use.

He basically backs up everything Dan did and said (which was an - intentionally - extreme test) and just brought the signal levels down to realistic levels so the plugin wasn't clipping, to see what would happen, and again, like Dan, concludes that the aliasing situation isn't really a problem in practical use.

(I'm guessing these results would also more or less apply to the other PA channel strips as well - at least the Brainworx coded ones, as the Lindell's are coded differently and have oversampling options...)

Re-check your sources. When reviewing Viridian 2, Giancarlo told Wytse (White Sea guy) to turn modules on in the plugin (he was moving knobs and complaining that it didn't do anything... when everything was "off"... he deleted the video and made another one finally turning on the modules) Then Wytse created a video reading the whole manual in a rather sarcastic way, to show that he didn't learn anything new, rather than admitting he never clicked on the "on" button for the different modules in the strip channel. If something else happened in a limited-access forum or facebook group, I do not know (you tell me).
And though, unlike you, I'm not here to defend anyone, at least Giancarlo had the decency to leave a comment personally indicating Wytse's error. Di*k used his facebook group (pa fanbois, you should really check it out) to insult the guy. This was quickly purged and di*k even changed (rather, created a new one) the facebook account he used for group posting.

I am not pretending anything. Just read the whole thread and see yourself. I started many posts ago talking about the plugin itself (and yes, making fun of it as the new game changer made out of re-hashed code from many other plugins), then you (in fact, it wasn't you it was synthlover99... but you continued with the same "leave di*k alone" kind of anaphoric cycle) started complaining about some of us and our disdain or hatred towards di*k and PA. Therefore, I gave you all the reasons I have. Now I have a question for you: why do you feel you need to defend di*k? (not a bit of sarcasm here, I'm genuinely curious)
