Go get it. No GUI update for resizing as far as it know. That what I’m waiting for. I hope Kontakt gets a Guitar Rig 6 like GUI update. They did a good job on that for a modular resizable GUI.

kontakt, i can live with the others, needs really a resizable GUI... my eyes!!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Jul 07, 2021 5:23 pm Go get it. No GUI update for resizing as far as it know. but in NI case, it is always strange, how they update, and implement.. and always slow..
still like the stuff...
perhaps a kontakt 7, with resizable GUI, although kontakt 6 isn't that old...
o well, we will know it when it arrives (or not....).

I was looking forward to this too when I read update! But no, Kontakt remains tiny. Even very very old VST's adapt to the size, but not Kontakt. With many plugins it doesn't matter that they get smaller, but Kontakt has the smallest fonts I've ever seen.

Yeah, because it was designed for monitors around 2003.Faiky wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 11:05 am I was looking forward to this too when I read update! But no, Kontakt remains tiny. Also the old plugins that were created for lores screens the DAW scales automatically, blurry but bigger. With the plugin this seems to be prevented, for whatever reason.Yeah, because it was designed for monitors around 2003.

I doubt we'll see resizing before Kontakt 7, and when we do, I'd hope there's a broader GUI overhaul as part of that.

It’s a start at least. Someone from NI mentioned that their early 2000’s GUI framework was a major reason their plug ins were not VST3, didn’t have resizable GUI’s and would take time to get ready for Apple Silicon. So its possible that’s all coming soon for Kontakt. That would be a nice surprise, NI are glacial with changes in general.

It would be worth continuing the discussion over here: viewtopic.php?p=8156089 so that it is all in one place.

Mine was first! Kidding. But isn't Kontakt a sampler?DarkStar wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 2:25 pm It would be worth continuing the discussion over here: viewtopic.php?p=8156089 so that it is all in one place.

Maybe the Mods could move the other thread into "Samplers". Or even merge the two?

It doesn't sample, therefor it cannot be called a sampler!*Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:47 pmMine was first! Kidding. Here we go again
OK....let's get the terminology right...
Kontakt is a sample player and a very good one too
It's crap for drums though...
But Battery is great for that task and it is built on the Kontakt engine...
Now if only NI could increase the size of Kontakt's miniscule GUI
No auto tune...

Yeah but isn't that kind of semantics? I mean haven't samplers usually meant hardware or software that can design instruments using samples in custom configurations? And isn't it more common for samplers to load samples and design the playback mapping, than to actually record audio? So it is a sampler in terms of providing samples of the original. In the case of food, a sampler platter doesn't itself taste various types of food. It is the samples of food being consumed. So I think there is precedent there that it need not actively do the sampling.digitalboytn wrote: Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:12 am![]()

I mean I get why some people want to make the distinction but you could say a sample recorder or something for a tool that actually records. I guess it just doesn't bother me that much. Not like people saying literally when they mean figuratively. Then I have a problem!
