blargh.
Yeah, I mean, everyone knows the deal with PA at this point. Them and Waves are the two worst offenders with that crap. If they priced things reasonably the first time, you wouldn't need 80% off sales. But I guess the model works and drives revenue.

I don't mind PA but I only buy at deep discounts knowing patience is key.

That’s just the thing, we are rewarding their bullshit model and by that encouraging it.
Instead if that shenanigans gave PA worst quarter in a decade they’d stop....

That’s why:
- we cant have nice things
- need government regulations OR
- have people not be so massively irresponsible to reward this kind of behaviour

I dunno, I just look at it as being an informed consumer. If a Plugin Alliance is worth $29 or less to me, I'll wait for a sale. And if I still want it at that time, I'll pick it up. Otherwise, no dice. If that's how they want to operate their business, well, at least I know about it and can adjust accordingly. I'm not going to get angry about it, but I definitely have my own opinion about how stupid it is.

I have no idea what the back story is that created Ploki’s ire against PA but regarding Crispy Tuner. It’s on sale right now at $99... and for those of us with a $50 loyalty voucher makes it extremely affordable. Been a happy PA camper, someone who rides the sales when appropriate much the same as with Waves.
A company like Izotope are tipping my scales into negative thoughts but I’ll wait and see if we as loyal customers get thrown under the subscription bus before my brain explodes. PA like most companies do things right and sometimes screw up but as long as there’s a kind of equilibrium it’s all good.
Crispy Tuner is still a great product even if it now lives under the PA banner.

Didn't say a bad thing against crispy tho, did I?
I won't go into PA (again) here, but what my quip with crispy is:
at 49$ (+vat for eu customers) it's still more expensive than the original crispy release was, and literally nothing except HPF/LPF was added in a year since acquisition (and a different color scheme, which i frankly like less than the original)

It's still a great shifter - but while it was under crispyaudio, it got frequent updates (nearly twice a month), dev responded to user feedback.
My fear is that bx won't take crispy any further.

You do realize tho, that what izotope is doing is trying to stay competitive in a dump-fest that slate/wave/PA established? I've been telling this for years on KVR.

Dude what? :-o

Government regulations because you don't like their business model and that it still seems to work for them nonetheless?

Seriously, people who wish (and subsequently seek and aim) to enforce their personal view on everyone else no matter what are the worst of the worst in my opinion! What's next? Shoot everybody who still dares to purchase PA plugins even though you loathe PA?

I'll take the //edit: most strident supporter of PA // over this scary kind of crap any day of the week!

Do you want to go to HPC? Because that's how you go to HPC.

I'm european, we don't have regulation = stalinism engrained in our blood so no need to get your panties twisted

No, certainly not - but I tend to anwer extremist statements with the warranted thoroughness.

Besides I wasn't the one who claimed the need for "government regulations" in the effects forum of an audio-production board.

Dude it was 9 months ago! People grow and change.

I'm a different person now. I'm more into Shoot everybody who still dares to purchase PA plugins

Fair enough, my bad - I thought it was a recent post, else I most probably wouldn't have bothered.

Kudos for that last joke by the way...

Edit: I edited my post now because it came to me that I seem to remember having seen whole PA threads disppear in the past and I don't want to be the one causing it....

Post

I just have eaten a Crispy Tuna sandwich, very delicious!
Cheaper than this strange plug thing.

As for the Izotope debacle.... The difference between Izo and the other companies you mentioned - and I guess since they are not being transparent right now that it’s supposition - is the fact that they don’t include everything in the subscription and it looks like they are delaying updates - that subscribers get - for outright owners of their software. This doesn’t seem to be the most competitive business model to me but more like they are blackmailing legacy users who have spent a lot of money on their products and updates/upgrades over the years - I for one own everything they have released - and forcing them - trying at least - into the subscription. The situation is still not clear and there’s no transparency from the company yet.
Sorry for hi jacking the thread... Peace out:)
