I accidentally left my wifi on, and my windows machine downloaded updates that it's going to force on me without consent now when I turn off my computer. Just want some heads up as to what kinds of bonk I'm about to experience. Am I totally screwed here?

rrrrr... I hate computers so much.

got a box of tissues and bottle of booze here. Told the kid not to come back for a while. Let the good times roll.

Windows I presume? What (sub)version were you on? Got any hardware that might be picky about drivers?
Probably not screwed, maybe minor inconvenience ahead.

I was on ten, it was just maybe half dozen updates back, before the mess started. I had it froze in a nice spot, and was planning on keeping that way, and got side tracked with farcry 5 and forgot my wifi was on.

We are about to find out.

You’ll be fine. The only thing that sometimes happens to me is I need to reload USB midi drivers.

It wound up being ten updates plus data stealing "security patches." It's going to be a minute, but I'm expecting to update my audio driver. The rest will be a surprise. appreciate the calming words. I put the tissues away and told the kid to get dressed instead, we are going out to eat while it does it's thing.

My hard disk is so full that Windows cannot download updates. It's wonderful.

Waiting on food. but I'm kind of appreciating your plan more and more, if it wasn't for the constant notices that my hard drive is out of space lmao.

computer updates are done. first thing i notice, is i don't know where anything is anymore. Second thing i notice, is all my settings have been reset. this not something I feel like dealing with this evening. i'll let you know more later.

am i screwed?
