A new entry : the recent Model 84 from softube (juno 106 emulation) does it very well.

TAL UNO LX and Dexed. But even the DAW synths can do the job.

The bass was a Roland SH-2, the main sequence was an Oberheim two-voice, a Jupiter 8 on leads and various Prophets for the pads. There were also a Mellotron, Pro-1 and MonoPoly in there too.

Nooooo, everyone says it must be analog or virtual analog synths, Dexed can't be used!!Bulbizarre wrote: Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:47 am TAL UNO LX and Dexed. But even the DAW synths can do the job.

I've done a couple of synthwave songs. I found Arturia Pigments, U-He Diva and Cherry Audio's DCO-106 all worked quite well. As far as drums go, any drum sampler with some 808 ,or LinnDrum samples loaded did the trick.

Oberhausen, Knifonium, Massive X, Dexxed, PG-8X and Xpand are the ones I tend to reach for, in that order more or less. Also some Kontakt libraries like Analog Dreams.

idk if it has been mentioned yet, but i'd like to follow up on one comment where someone stated that "every synth can be used for synthwave". i think that is true, too. the basic idea of 80s synth sounds was, that synths are mindblowing things that have never existed before. the 80s were a time when this kinda stuff became more affordable, so there was a boom in synth sounds. everyone wanted synths and loud metallic sounding reverbs. so if you just use this mindset you can get 80s vibes from most synths. my follow up to this is just that you can use certain effects as post-processing steps to get more of a lofi vibe. most of these lofi effects out there highly focus on tape machines, like wavesfactory cassette, which i recently bought and am very happy with. i wonder if there are also some for vhs, but maybe that would be too similiar since it's also tape, but video. idk. you can also get things to sound more lofi by applying vibrato, soft lowpass filters, add noise etc. the complicated part about it is just that it shouldn't be too linear. like the vibrato should not just be a sine wave, but more like something that sometimes has its moments. and the noise shouldn't be just white noise, but something warmer and with a bit of character, maybe even dynamically reacting to the signal, you know? get creative on your synth sounds and you can easily bring them back a few years

Falcon 2.5 has a new retrowave preset category, so let's add Falcon to "any synth works wells for synthwave"

I'll second this one. Download some retro wavetables for it, it uses the same as Serum, you get a whole load of them for free, and you wont need any other synth. It also has the effects you need for a synthwave feelEzilyboredgames wrote: Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:38 am You can get some
