That's your own fault :hihi:
When they ask where you will mostly use Reason, you chose Bitwig

So, people who spent 3 bucks to enter the subscription are getting the next version much earlier than all the users that invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the years in the Reason ecosystem.

At least RS clearly now shows where the priorities are.

Already have 11 Suite and not much interested in sound packs so Reason+ doesn't really interest me, but access to hi-res Reason 12 features for 3 months for £3 is fine by me.

The users that invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the years in the Reason ecosystem and still prefer the perpetual license model will get a fully featured "12" via the traditional upgrade route in September, and come away with a much better bang for buck. Reason+ subscribers are only getting an advance preview of just 2 of the Reason 12 features (improved search and high res graphics), not the whole thing. In September, you'll get a new Combinator as well as a new sampler, and probably some other (small) improvements, including better high-res support from point updates that will likely be rolled out to 12+ subscribers over the next 2-3 months.

Regardless, you can sub for $3 and get access as well for 3 months, and cancel before it goes full price anyway and go right back to the perpetual license, so... not a big deal.

Got to say the hi-res zoom is a gamechanger on a 4k screen. I actually feel I can control instruments now rather than spending my time painfully squinting at them. Algoritm has some very nice presets, Female Filter Choir for instance, and there's a lot of fun to be had dialling in randomizer stuff while playing, but I do feel the need for a third hand.

OMG the loading of the high res assets takes forever.

I did the $3 for three months deal. Downloaded all the high res assets through Reason+ companion app.

What I'm finding (interface set to 140%) is that you pull in an RE. It loads with the low-res assets initially. Then, about ~2-5 minutes later, the high-res assets load in.

Pretty terrible, because it means any RE I drag in will have this initial wait time -- and all you are seeing is jaggy lines, unreadable fonts. I know it's beta, but I hope to god the props have a better user experience in mind. This holds true for even the built in Props devices.

Once the high-res assets load, beautiful. And subsequent loads of the RE keep the high resolution.

Also note the crazy memory requirements. I've loaded 4 RE's from blamsoft. 3+ gigs of memory usage.

I haven’t had to wait any noticeable length of time for hi res assets to load at any zoom level so guessing it’s either my gpu, an NVidia 1080, or broadband (400 Mb/s) that’s helping there.

Noted, and thanks for the reply. Another poster complained about slow asset loading time. Perhaps something with my system. I have Nvidia 2080, broadband at about 500 Mb/s (fiber). Broadband shouldn't matter since I downloaded all the hi res assets through R+ companion app.

That might have been me, but I'm running Reason on an almost 10 year old PC. That said, solar28 is correct - your broadband internet speed has nothing to do with loading hi-res assets in Reason (I mean, aside from downloading the initial assets in Companion). Once you're in Reason, all hi-res assets are loaded from Reason itself using your computer as the source from the RE's and other content it downloaded via Companion.

Maybe it was just to do with the particular REs I was loading. All the stock ones with just a couple of players from Enlightenspeed.
There a particular RE that exhibited the jaggies/illegible font issue?

I only have 1 RE that hasn't updated to hi-res assets yet, and that's Synapse Audio's Ninety Vintage Phaser. No clue if he'll fix it - I pinged the Synapse Audio RE beta forum but it's dead as dust over there. No activity since July 2020. I just PM'd Richard, so hopefully he'll let us know what's up.

For me, all the blamsoft REs took a long time to load. So w/ my zoom set to 140%, it looked exactly like zooming into a static bitmap. All fonts/control labels etc look blurry. Everything is pixelated until the hi-res asset loads. I'm down to test REs, but my experience is that every one I've tried so far (including the built-in devices) take a long time to load the right assets. My workflow has been, "load 10 or so REs and then come back 10 minutes later and see which ones are now hi-res". With about 60% still low-res. Then load 1 at a time. After a few minutes, it becomes hi-res.

The fastest ones I have seen are synapse audio racks which are even faster than reasons built in stuff....

I mean, cool there tiny bits of detail but I don't need so much that I can see my virtual ass crack on a scratch on a knob
