Go for the large download the first time. It has Final Mix along with some sample projects.

Don't forget to make sure popup help is on for the first few times you use Tracktion, it'll help a lot in coming up to speed!

Wow I'm late to the party! This is very cool news for everybody I think. And at the very least you can use Tracktion as a free mastering app with Final mix even if you never use Tracktion as a sequencer (which I highly doubt :hihi: ). Very cool stuff indeed.

Thanx to Mackie and Guitar Player for this cool freebie! Heh, now I am glad I got out of bed this morning. :) :) :) Have been curious about this one for a very long time, but couldn't stand the noise burst long enough to bother.
COOL! :D

To those T1 owners who have forgotten:

Beno posted some time back to say that T2 would cost T1 owners a little less than the difference between the T1 price and the T2 price. So if T2 costs $40 more than T1 the upgrade will probably be $35.

So you are going to be taken care of, and the NFR users wont be getting a better deal. They may though generate enough extra T2 sales that Mackie can afford to throw in more freebies and extras which will benefit everyone.

i have a mixed bag of feelings on this one. First, I'm glad that anyone who may not be able to afford it now can. Everyone can see how great it really is. And I'm glad more people can use it.

Now for the other side of me. I feel a little bit ticked that this would happen. Why for free? And it has no catches apparently. While myself, I would take advantage of free also if I didn't already have it. But I DID pay for it. Maybe Mackie will make paid users upgrades super cheap, I don't know. And I will still buy.

Not to be selfish, but I hope there's a catch, even if it is just a full price T2 upgrade. But it better come soon, because some people are going to be really ticked.

I'm a little mad, but don't really know what to say. No real argument except for that Mackie needs to have a good plan for taking care of it's PAYING customers. I wish I could speak my mind right now.

But I really am happy as individuals for all of you who get to try T for free. I have nothing against you. I'd do it too. I'll sit and wait for my part of this deal(still being selfish).

its a 80 dollar program.quit fuckin whinning.

KoolKeys, re-read my post.

We already know what the upgrade will cost for those who purchased T1.

The NFR version is effectively a non time-limited demo. Which in the run up to T2 just makes good marketing sense.

Tracktion is currently playing catch up to all the other software out there. With so many sequencers being released just a few weeks/months ahead of T2, Mackie are clearly just trying to give it a little momentum to help it get started.

Perhaps only because I paid a LOoooong time ago, I'm not upset in the least. If anything, I'm glad people get to use it. If I had bought it last week, I might have been upset.

Now, a few things to consider:

- Jules was likely compensated in some way or another under this deal.
- If it's in conjunction with GuitarPlayer, it's not like it was strictly Mackie's idea.
- It IS marketing genius, and being able to recognize the strategy for what it is (getting more people hooked!) doesn't change my respect for it as a smart piece of marketing

I guess I'd like to pay less than the NFR people for upgrade, and I don't see how they'd be able to do it any other way and still make decent coin. ;) But if by some bizarre chance we all end up paying the same, I STILL won't be upset.

Now, to the people who ARE-- you have every right to your own personal reactions, and I understand where you're coming from; but I'm just engineered a different way. ;)

if mackie do not charge full whack for T2 for the freebie owners then i will be the most surprised person ever. this offer makes sense. i think the only reason people have any cause to feel upset is because they have paid for something that others are getting for free.

T2 is not going to be affected for anyone in anyway by this, except for generating more sales. i can't see how anyone expects any different
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I think that the only thing this would be telling is: T2 is VERY soon to be released.
So Mackie's marketing is getting a bit more agressive to get some Tracktion-less people on board eventually.

Can't see any disadvantage for existing users. Yes, I'd perhaps be pissed in case I only purchased it recently, but I'm sure that almost all of the recent buyers were aware of the soon to come T2 anyways - and I'm assuming that almost none of them would pass the update either (let alone that eventually Mackie might come up with some grace period model).

So, IMO the only people that might really be pissed off could be those who purchased it recently, use it constantly (otherwise the purchase would be wasted money anyways) and never planned to update anymore (because the update scheme will actually be the advance over NFR users).
That shouldn't be too much people... 2? Or 3?
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

This is great :)

But one thing... I don't see Final Mix anywhere within the program. And on their site, itøs stated as being for the UFX card only.

Hmm...

Try rescanning your plug-in folders. Then look in the filters list, it should be towards the top of the list with the Tracktion plugs.
