UVI Plate vs FabFilter Pro-R: Looking for a Reverb by frequency?

Hi,

I'm looking for a reverb that I can adjust for certain frequencies (eg add reverb to low,mid,top only), which would you choose?

or is there another which can do this and is better?

What are your thoughts / suggestions?

I gave Pro-R a demo run, gets a bit confusing to use that TBH... Is it an EQ or a reverb or both all stacked into 1 graphy mess?

Meldaproduction have multiband reverbs. However, I think they may be pretty confusing, too.

You can do that with any Reverb... since you use Bitwig, fast way would be to use the Bitwig device Multiband FX-3 and drop any reverb into Low/Mid/Top

You can also obviously put any EQ in front of a reverb to EQ the signal coming into the reverb. That would be on a send channel so as not to EQ the dry signal too. Or you could use an FX Layer device.

The Bitwig Reverb device has a Wet FX insert so you can nest an EQ there and it will only affect the wet signal (reverb) not the dry signal.

the blue graph is a decay rate based on frequency
the yellowish one is a post-eq
pretty simple actually imho

uvi plate is a...uhm...plate: different kind of beast imho

Pro-R is very powerful in that area once you get your head around how it works. You might want to take a look at TC VSS4, it has pretty good multi-band reverb controls that are a bit more approachable.

+1 for FabFilter Pro-R. And yes the graphs are decay rate + post eq. One handles the "smearing" the other the "intensity". Not really confusing at all imo, quite the opposit its controls are more "sound focused" than technical (distance, brightness, color...). Or sure, just setup a multiband device in your daw.

I really like MReverbMB, I actually find the old school interface quite easy to use and its 1/4 of the price of the other 2. £42 and discount for sign up, bargain.

Use a reverb send and then throw an EQ after the reverb on that send. Sculpt as you see fit.

I'd never heard of Meldaproduction till you mentioned it, I took a little wander through what they got and was like... ooo, I'd like that... oooo I'd like that... and that... and that... I'm giving MSoundFactory a demo, it's very crashy. VST3s are there just best not to touch them, lucky bitwig can just handle the crash without killing the DAW.

But some very nice instruments in there.

With the discounts, introductory offer, email signup, first purchase discount and a voucher code I found from googling it only cost like £12 or something, what the hell like.

Also I like that I can slap LFOs on most of it's params, should make things quite interesting, shame the bands wasn't like an EQ though GUI wise, it looks like it blends the bands automatically, not sure if you can adjust how long or short the blend is between the bands, thus a visual EQ for that would have been a wiser choice. IMO.

Still exploring and learning it.
