Interesting shootout Pro L vs Limitless, I've always loved Dave Gambles stuff, so i'd assume Limitless is pretty damn powerful too, but it never seems to get much love ahead of Pro L.MogwaiBoy wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:44 am 4 instances of Pro-L 2 in series... f***
On topic... Pro-L 2 is superb, as is Limitless - both are better than the Ozone Maximizer in my opinion.
Ozone , tell me why

Yeah, especially if you have to buy four of them.LeVzi wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:23 amLack of money normally has that effect when it comes to buying stuff.

I think you misunderstood. Some guys use a series of limiters, others just mix everything as loud as possible into the master channel and don't use any limiting at all._leras wrote: Thu Jul 15, 2021 10:47 pm
Ya, ok fair enough that's not so bad when you say it like that, and in fact some clipping before a limiter can be a help.
but that wasn't what you said in what I replied too.... which was basically:
"don't care about gain staging, clipping or peaks and run it into four instance of Pro L"
but... I mean, you can if you like...
dionenoid wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:05 am You do harder styles right ? Use several limiters after each other, and mix into that.
Some guys even don't use a limiter at all, they just mix everything as loud as possible into the master channel and don't care about gain-staging, clipping or peaks.
But the important thing is to mix into it, and not try to make it loud afterwards.
Btw : I don't know which limiter you use now, but it doesn't really matter that much. Just know what your limiter does to the sound. Altho most i know use Pro-L2. Up to 4 instances of it.
The loudness war is over, loudness has won

100% they aint cheap, i'm not complaining about the price, but to get 1 or a bundle is huge, even with a 25% sale. rent to own for plugins like this would be a godsend.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:30 amYeah, especially if you have to buy four of them.LeVzi wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:23 amLack of money normally has that effect when it comes to buying stuff.

Sonic fidelity or ear health of listeners appears not to be a target of these people.dionenoid wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 9:22 am I think you misunderstood. Some guys use a series of limiters, others just mix everything as loud as possible into the master channel and don't use any limiting at all.
but I concede that using 3 limiters at 1.5db reduction could be better than one at 4.5db.
Just straight digitally hard clipping the master, sure you'd get some loudness - but it's going to get into quite harsh distortion quite quickly if not careful.

You must be thinking of this, it's ok, I confuse the Oak Ridge Boys with Aerosmith all the time.

Well if I had to choose one it would probably be Limitless. It often sounds slightly clearer and wider to me than Pro-L 2 - and it's definitely deeper and more flexible in terms of manual control. It's really close though, almost splitting hairs.LeVzi wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:24 amInteresting shootout Pro L vs Limitless, I've always loved Dave Gambles stuff, so i'd assume Limitless is pretty damn powerful too, but it never seems to get much love ahead of Pro L.MogwaiBoy wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:44 am 4 instances of Pro-L 2 in series... f***
