Live and/or Bitwig is a lot of peoples 'other' DAW!

I know, I created that poll. But it's reasonable the statistic would be similar for those that moved entirely away from Reason DAW.

Hmm, I don't agree at all....'if' you were moving from Reason completely as 'the DAW' wasn't strong enough (and that isn't what the poll says) I don't think you would move to Live- it has many strengths but its no better (and in many ways not as good) as Reason as a linear DAW.

It has most of what Reason users ask for frequently - VST3, midi FX VST, track folders, track freezing, MPE + it also has clip launcher. But I agree that separate poll would be a better way to gauge that. Perhaps you can create one?

I'll give it a miss, I am new to Reason and it seems a bit antagonistic to assume people are leaving Reason, especially when I only bought 11 to get the rack to use in Live

If you assume you are paying for the rack and you get the DAW free (like I did) then its a moot issue, and I can't see that anyone who has used the rack would give it up (give up Reason) if they used a different DAW, they would just use it as a rack in that DAW?

VST3- Yup, be useful to host VST3 but to be honest I have VST 2 and 3 for most plugs so not a show stopper for me.

Midi FX VST - again, so many cool 'players' I haven't really missed this, not something I use anyway.

Track folders - not something I use much and I actually think the take lanes, dub tracks, alt takes etc is more 'musical' and less 'office'

Track freezing = Bounce In Place (same as Bitwig)

MPE- good to have, lets be honest Live only got it a few months ago

I think not having native pitch correction in Live (and Bitwig) is a bigger limitation than all of the above for me, so only really Studio One would stand as a replacement for all of that. Its dull, but it does everything!

I use other DAWs sometimes and I don't use Reason as a plugin in there - why would I?

Friktion and Algoritm were instant buy yesterday! As much as I dislike the protection scheme, I really like those devices and the workflow in Reason!
Anyway, my love won in the end and I ended buying a 2nd hand license for Reason 10! I might upgrade to R12 later so I use the rack edition inside Bitwig or Live, although I think I can use Rewire still in Live with R10 but not sure if Live dropped Rewire in the latest version?

There is no use! I'm a polygamous person so I've ended with 3 perfect working platforms (OSes) and at least 5 DAWs (I love them all )

You bought them full price?! They're both awesome, but you should've waited for a 50% sale probably somewhere at the end of summer (usually). Too bad they don't do deal of the week anymore...

I have to say the Reason+ sound pack (I have suggested they call it 'rack pack' ) is pretty cool. They really are putting them out at 1 a week (or more) and they are more interesting than 'sounds', its like a theme, song starters, sometimes just FX...combiner instruments, samples, drum patterns- all stuff you can alter and make your own, not just 'pre-sets' for a synth.

Being able to play to the pack in a song context (a track made with stuff) or as individual sounds before (and after) downloading is also pretty cool.

I'm not sure anyone else is doing anything like this (weekly?) but if you are the sort of person who always likes to have something new to open/play with/inspire it may just work for you...

They took a cue from Output's Arcade, which operates in a similar fashion.

I have only just noticed the Groove Mixer has been redesigned and is now HD I like the new clean look, hopefully this cascades throughout the sequencer.

Agreed - that looks x10 better than the old dated thing! Really hope the entire main mixer eventually sees this sort of treatment.

I think the subscription uses its own authoriser where as the perpetual licences uses above (but I may be wrong!)

My struggles with authorisation still continue. I have noticed that under my user account I have 2 instances of Reason 12 beta, but can’t see Reason +, hence I’m asked to login every time when I launch Reason.
I’ve submitted the ticket with support and awaiting their answer.

I am also just seeing the 12 beta rather than Reason+ but I am not sure if that is because the beta is more advanced (a later version) than Reason + I guess. To be honest with having Reason 11 suite, the Reason 12 beta and now Reason+ I am not sure what version(s) I should be seeing!

I could delete the beta and download 12 via Reason+ installer, but I think I will wait until the next version with the sampler which is due next.

Just a quick update on Reason + authorisation issue.
I have received reply from Reason Studios support and for now Reason + does NOT support permanent authorisation of computers or dongles and will launch only with internet login.
This is planned to change in the “near” future updates though…

People already distrust/don't like subscription, this will certainly fuel that fire! That said, a lot of people just don't know that their software is phoning home and can lock you out if it doesn't like the response- this happened 'accidently' to Bitwig users recently!

I wonder what their solution is as I guess they need to check you are still subscribed somehow!

Reason+ sub has been online-only since launch, and they have stated that they are planning to offer an offline authorization soon. My guess is that it will probably work similar to how Roland Cloud works, where you have to "phone home" (read: log in online) at least once a month or similar. Whatever solution they decide upon will be better than the current, which - as you said - no Internet means no fun.

I have two "rent to own" synths still paying for them and then installed the upgraded Reason 11 with the awful Codemeter, but still I required to login because of the two synths! So, what's the point of that ugly meter?!

Reason Studios need to cure themselves from the paranoia of online protection! They moved from extreme friendly just serial number (v4) to a crazy protection! No balance in this world?! Either extreme left or extreme right?!

On the positive side I've just discovered the amazing NUM keys shortcuts! What a great workflow enhancer

Yup. Not sure how that’s hard to miss. There’s no other slice-compatible format that I’m aware of that has file compression as well. I know Apple loops has slice data, but it’s an uncompressed aiff file. If there are any other alternatives are they as widely-supported as Rex files?

Downloaded Reason+ for $1 for 3 months. Cancelled within the first week. Rack plugin won't show up in my DAW as an instrument but only an effect. Tried the workarounds and still not working. No reason to use Reason for me.
