I have an instrument and I want to use a controller to assign knobs to parameters. So I assign parameters and everything is fine until I switch presets (using the same instrument) and I lose all my MIDI controller mappings. Is there a way to retain the mappings? I tried it using an Instrument group and macros, but I still lose the controller assignments. Seems like they'd be baked into the preset, but if I save the preset, they go away.
How do you assign and save the assignments to use with other instances of the same instrument?
Thanks for any help. driving me crazy, but I'm also kinda new to this and can't find it in the manual.
How to save MIDI mappings in Ableton Live please?

Jeezzz... It's the same as in Bitwig or any other DAW. You either have:
1) 1-to-1 fixed mappings that are saved with the project only and are a firm "link" between particular controller knobs/faders/buttons and particular device parameters; or
2) a script (native or 3rd party) that automatically maps the controller to exposed - usually in banks of 8 - parameters of currently selected device.
I feel like we had this discussion few weeks ago over at Bitwig forum?
