If you want to use FL as an uber instrument inside Tracktion you can do it by using either FL's VSTi mode, or the ReWire Slave capability.

IME using FL as a ReWire slave is easier and more stable than inserting it as a VSTi.

If you've installed FL's rewire support, then all you should need to do is ensure that 'enable rewire' is selected in Tracktion's settings (settings tab / plugins).

Add a new filter to your track(s), and choose rewire device. Now simply select the filter, and choose FL ReWire from the list of ReWire devices.

Pough did a nice walkthrough for using Tracktion as a ReWire Master to Reason, the steps are basically similar for FL.

For those of you not familar, there are a handful of guides by myself, and links to guides by others here:

TracktionFaction is a great resource for Tracktion that you may want to check out also:

Ah late as usual to this thread. But this is excellent, excellent news and as a marketing guy, I think it's a stroke of genius from Mackie. I happily paid my 80 bucks for T1, and if it's now free that will ensure a strong base of users discovering that simpler is better - period.

Peter just setup a new web based email and try again. Install the demo first and give them the machine ID # when they ask.

wow, a full version of tracktion 1 + a mastering plug, all for free! :o

including finalmix really is quite the bonus for me because i suck at mastering, still havent bought a mastering suite/vst, and can use all the help i can get. i just started testing out some of the presets and i can tell they are doing a better job than i was doing before. it may be time to remaster a few things. very, very cool. 8)

i agree that this could be a rather slick marketing move for mackie.

I have absolutely no doubt that there are users out there capable of doing a better job, using 'better' (all subjective) plug-ins that they're familiar with. But I think I'm in the same boat as you. I've tried doing my own final mixes ("masters" if you want to use the term slightly incorrectly) before with my available software, and it's never worked as well as just selecting one of the presets in FinalMix and doing a minor tweak or two.

There are some things I'm a tweak junkie for, but 'mastering' is not one of them.
