5 instances of VeeSeeVST in Bitwig (kick, snare, glitchy bass, glitchy lead, miau)

Bitwig effects used: drum machine, note pitch shifter, arpeggiator, eq-5, compressor, tool, dynamics(for sidechain business), mid-side split, peak limiter(these two are on master). also used random modulator to modulate macro oscillator model since it doesn't have cv input for it.

3rd party: OTT, Ozone Imager 2(on master)

Was going to work more on it, but at some point realized that it already sounds so perfect in its rawness and sketchiness! Mixing done by cranking up the stock limiter and I love how it sounds lol :) To me it sounds like something from an actual modular performance. A bit harsh and out of place at times, but whatever, I like it. The thing I think definitely would improve the track is maybe some techno-y tatatatata sounds fading in and out at some moments. But whatever, this is a lesson for me that sometimes it's better to stop earlier than later :)

I'm on Windows, but like some others, I was interested in using the standalone version of VCV. Partly because of the polyphonic cables in Version 1. But also, there's this whole side of electronic music I have no clue about, and I should try to learn what it is. So I made my track without using a DAW at all. I incorporated generative features in various ways. The videos of Omri Cohen have been indispensable.

This month been an intensely educational experience that will permanently affect the way I think about composing. That said, I have some misgivings about how hard this modular stuff is. Eventually reached the limit of both my CPU and my brain. So it's time to call it a day, although I would have liked to add some more musical complexity.

Edit: I used a lot of modules. Credits file (produced by chowDSP Credit) attached, zipped because the forum doesn't let me upload a text file.

This is my entry titled "Evening Drops", a scaring amount of hours
went into programming this thing, but I enjoyed it very much, trying to emulate
an ever-changing live performance. The main difficulty was to program random variations
that were subtle but audible
and without a machine-like randomness feel, to preserve the beat swing.

All sounds are generated using only the VCV Resonator module,
except the flute that also uses VCO-1 to drive the Resonator for
sustain.

As modulators my VCV patches use
+ Random Sampler (for VST Clock sampling)
+ LLFO BGA,
+ Slew Limiter
+ Mixer 4CH
and Valley Plateau as reverb effect.

Here's DoctorBob's entry. I used 41 racks of VeeSeeVST in Reaper with about 20% cpu hit on my machine. All racks programmed from scratch. 17 racks for percussion alone!

Like everyone else, I could tweak and patch forever, but I will be out of action sight-wise for the next few days, so I had better get this in. Hope you enjoy this little composition.

Hi all here's my submission for this month. Really enjoyed creating patches in vcv rack, it's like a gold mine for creativity, I will definitely be using it for inspiration in future.

It was a tough month indeed. I'm not sure of course but I think the song would have improved with more time, planning, practice and patience. But here we are, I still had fun, learned a lot along the way and enjoy listening to the recording. Also I have some better ideas if I want to expand my hardware modular into a generative instrument, mainly it will require quite a lot more modules than I hoped...

Anyway: The entire song recorded in one take using VCV Rack. Main modules used are 4x Audible Instruments "Tides" oscillators, 2x Befaco "Rampage" function generators, 2x VCV 8-step sequencers, 2x Audible Instruments "Branches", 1x Nysthi "Plateverb" reverb... and so on.

The performance aspect of the patch is mainly made up of changing the "probability" parametres of the "Branches" modules, which determines the length of the notes (i.e. the speed of the clock), as well as mixing the four oscillators which are tuned to octaves, major third and sixth respectively. Also the "freeze" button on the Plateverb is engaged from time to time.

Time was very limited, but I always wanted to try VCV.... was not disappointed! I barely scratched the surface of possibilities though, more scratching surely will follow, especially I'd like to explore the standalone version more. Thanks to the modular design of audio in linux it's quite simple to use external sequencers / DAWs for feeding to and collecting from VCV. Only limit is the DSP, which can be reached quickly :(

-DAW: Ardour 6.8 on ArchLinux
-18x VeeSeeVST wrapped in Carla to help with the automation
-Some light eq (10x LSP parametric stereo EQ)
-Ardour side chain compressor on the bass to make room for the kick
-ZaMulitCompX2/x42-dpl on the drum bus

Master bus:
-LSP parametric EQ (stereo and mid/side)
-LSP stereo compressor
-x42-dpl Limiter

It's been 3 years since my first OSC entry. I've wanted to make a 1-bit* piece of music for about 2.5 of those years. I finally did.

I sequenced and recorded this entirely within VCV Rack (standalone).
It's somewhat amusing, taking a piece of software that's emulating an analog system, and making something as digital as possible.

Want to know how it works? here's the patch.

In short, I use a manual button to start recording and begin the sequence, and let the sequencer send a stop signal to my recorder when it's done.

My computer can't keep up with the live performance anymore, but the recorder doesn't mind.
For your experimenting pleasure, I have also included an earlier version of the file with less layers of sequencing that doesn't slow my computer to a crawl.

EDIT: I've dropped the loudness of my track by 12 dB and re-uploaded. now it's only at -13.2 LUFS rather than the original, glorious -1.2 LUFS. should be slightly less abrasive now.

I applaud everything about this entry, it's spirit, it's uniqueness. I love that you've given us a view into it's construction.
I hate it. It fills me with immediate revulsion. If this was the goal, I applaud you once again for your unmitigated success. I've never been so torn between admiration and disgust. I know I was meant to hear it, but once. Just once, and never again.
I hope my unsolicited review doesn't color the judging of our compatriots, because believe, I'm bestowing points, oh yes. points for creativity. points for inspiration. points for pulling something out of this synth that it was never intended to do! POINTS FOR AUDACITY! so yeah. I'm totally giving this four points. it would be five, but I hate it.

a mostly generative patch. the manual input i ended up having was to start/stop the clock and to control the portland weather mix with a mod wheel (which is what creates the rhythmic b section), and to reverse its delay with the pitch wheel (which i'm not convinced really improves anything but it was too neat to not do).

quantized to a subset of 29ed2 with some justly intonated pitch shifting, as happens when you modulate a tempo synced delay that shifts by simple intervals.
