it is kind of missing link in that way, that isn't missing.... (and yes i use static architecture as you call it, semi-modular, and full soft modular... and even sometimes small scripts, very small scripts...)Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:54 pm
I have that same story. I find myself missing some of the Fathom workflow if I am using a static architecture or even full modular.

Hi,
Am I doing something wrong to properly trigger my kicksound?
Only the first hit sounds good, the next ones lose the attack (hold a note to hear it).
Am using Envelopes for the shapes. It doesn't sound like the Oscillator starting point is random.
Edit:
Version using ADSR envelopes seem to be fine, do see some starting point oddness depending on the note played (moving between different samplepoints, try C1, D1 or F1). When not moving it's 62 smp (e.g. note C#1)??

RPH, Hi, I can't seem to download that preset here when I click on it.
Could you email it to the support@fathomsynth.com and I'll take a look.
I did not have any trouble making my kicks behave the way I want. I think I set detune to retrigger instead of free and I set poly to one voice. That way the kick will always start fresh regardless if the previous kick is releasing. But send me the preset and I will play with it.
I'm glad to hear everyone is liking the last release and appreciates the modularity.

REVIEWS NEEDED
Folks, I humbly ask that you write some reviews on the Fathom page here on KVR. It has been over a years since anyone has written a review. Fathom has dropped from the top 25 to around 500 even though there is still heavy use worldwide. Over the last year there have been hundreds of comments in this thread about how much people like Fathom and all the features and there have even been some comments that Fathom is the best VST synth they have ever used.
Of course, I love to read these, but unfortunately it does not do us much good lost in this thread in terms of publicity.
So if you like Fathom and you have not yet written one, even a review of just one or two sentences on the Fathom page makes a huge difference. I'm not asking for good reviews, I'm just asking that you capture them on the review page instead of only writing in the thread where they are soon forgotten.
Also, we have several thousand users worldwide but the KVR "I own this" still says "107", so it would be nice of people remembered to update that as well.

Think I've fixed almost all the issues.
In my RPH-kickhat preset there is still something causing the kicks to not always start at the same point. Maybe still due to the envelope? I checked with a scope plugin (psyscope pro)

I really like the NKS format myself even if just for the presets. I had a brief conversation with Urs about Bazille becoming NKS and one of the obstacles seems to be the sheer number of parameters and possible variations. By the time you scroll through 27 Machine parameter pages you might as well be on the interface. But......it would still be cool for preset browsing.wetdentist wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 6:00 pm i wish Fathom would become NKS-compatible. it is free to do & it would expand your market

I did some NKS files for Tal U no Lx. From those I was able to do most of the presets I had. There is a forum discussion on the NI site that was real helpful. I'll add that to this post in a minute. It's not really free though because it takes considerable time. There is a basic script out there that functions but is no longer supported.
I will look into doing it for the banks that are available from on the Fathom site for Scrubbing Monkeys if there is sufficient interest. But......that's alot of parameters

A link to the NKS script topic on KVR.
viewtopic.php?t=514425
The NI forum link where users get it figured out. Pretty deep but if you are into it it is a great read.
https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... rs.320466/
In this forum you will find folk that do and sell NKS presets for synths that are not necessarily NKS compatible. They usually do factory preset banks only. The prices are quite reasonable for the amount of work involved. So… say $12.00 bucks for Sonic academy Ana2 factory presets is a great deal, but the price would go up considerably if I wanted someone to make my personal presets NKS ready because they would only be selling one......to me.

I think kvr need to rework the review system. If one can't write a second review of a product after major product changes, an edited review should at least move to the top of the list, being time relevant.
I also would welcome being able to review any music tool, not just items in some search database. Mods could always delete reviews they didn't like

OK, Thanks for the review.
I can easily build Fathom for VST3 if people want it.
Why do you want VST3? What is the difference?

Maybe having everything under the one folder would be a nice side-effect, and help maintain easy backups of the entire VST3 collection? (your vst2 setup is already quite nice) I know some people, for example, dislike how NI and IK and others have files scattered in six or ten locations
I always like how Wusikstation had an all-inclusive Data folder, and similar deal with U-he installs
Cheers

the difference could be the possibilities VST3 gives, but the SDK is a mess, i read...FathomSynth wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:07 pm OK, Thanks for the review.

so, does it gives more?? it's up to developer, if it usefull or not.
but VST2 exist such a long time, that developers, i heard.., can do almost the same things in VST2...
it is only usefull for the possibilities, i repeat.. but not many use all, like sample accurate automation, that VST3 promisses, or that a VST3 'disables' itself when not playing any sound, it depends on the VST3 plugin of course, if this can be usefull, a soft modular is constantly running..
