Why not?? :?

Well, your average track sequencer can't switch effects on or off, which puts a processor load on your average ten track album that modern PCs can't cope with. Furthermore, your average track based sequencer doesn't in fact have CD burning capabilities worth speaking of.

I use Ozone in FL Studio. I really learned a lot about mastering by using it. And the documents on www.izotope.com are pretty good, whether you use Ozone or not.

Tracktion can; just drop the plugs onto the audio clips themselves.. but then Tracktion is far from average! :D

Personally I'm hoping CD burning makes it into Tracktion 2.. meanwhile how much hassle is it to export the mixes and burn them with something else?

Seriously, I wouldn't even consider using anything else.

Anyway, you've gotta decide what you want to get out of mastering. Hyping a track is one thing, producing an entire CD with a unified sound is another. Your average sequencer is fine for the first option, but not for the second.

But to return to my first point, don't spend days mastering a track. Spend them perfecting the mix, then send it off to get mastered by someone who knows.
hey, that sounds great, i will definiatly consider Xarc for any work that i may want to release, very affordable. thanks for the tip :)

however even if i will most likely hire a pro mastering service for any of my more serious work i am also into this for the learning,
therefor i would also like to have an (as good as possible) option for mastering at home .

Yeah, they are very affordable. And they do a damn fine job (rescued one dreadful mix of mine). I understand you wanting to learn more, but really, there's so much to learn, and mastering is something you can avoid learning...

errr, well you can use audition. you can use tracktion. I prefer recording and composing in tracktion and then mastering and even mixing in audition because to me its a more transparent audio engine. What vst's dont work in audition do you really need? I mean you can use whatever effects you want in tracktion and then to master down, what do you need? Tls_maximizer in the master bus, nyquist 5 eq for equalizing the tracks, and maybe some little ambience here or there, and blockfish for compression...

Easy as pie, no mess

I have been playing with Tracktion since the free version was mentioned. I used to do all my mastering in FL Studio with Ozone. Can anyone give me advice on doing this in Tracktion. Do you render all your tracks and load them in Tracktion? Or do you use ReWire or the FL vst?

I am intersted in trying this with Tracktion because some of what I do can use up quite a bit of memory.

Render your tracks from FL Studio 24 bits, then just stick em in Tracktion and add Ozone.
