Here is Intel's plan for - um - world domination. Pat Gelsinger is back. How much of this is smoke and mirrors and renaming things remains to be seen but they are throwing bucks at it bigtime.

I dont think that X570-E has fan? Or I dont see it from the pictures at least.. would it be a problem?
Yes, I didnt even put GPU yet in because I dunno what I'll get. Either I'll get some cheapo "show desktop" or then transfer current 1070OC there.
Depending on air TEMP/configuration/hardware, it can be quiet, but still fragile.

That's smart move, releasing both Intel and M1X versions of Mac Pro, so they can take cash from everyone, ones that are tied to legacy and ones that are ready to move on.

If I upgrade, am I not still going to run into the age ol' chestnut of the first core getting the brunt of the work?
You probably will, some DAW's just work that way.
Figured. I wish I knew for sure. Mostly this computer works really well. TOTALLY got my moneys worth and a lot more. But it's been a while, daddy wants a new computer :)
But not all.
Reaper is very good at spreading the workload.
Also it depends how you use plugins.I avoid long processing chains wherever possible. If a sound does not fit in the mix I modify or change it at the source.

Except theres no mention of M1X ETA or performance, it may be that it cant scale much higher than it already has and they are stuck. The message is : pros use Intel, despite Apples Intel put downs. Some huge confusion will result.

There's no mention of Intel either in Mac Pro's, it's just rumors at this point, but whatever it is, they will cash in as always.

https://wccftech.com/m1x-macbook-pro-li ... -32gb-ram/

That 32 GB is unified memory which includes graphics RAM which would be separate (ie additional) and on the adapter in the Intel architecture where you might have 6 or 8 GB of high speed graphics RAM on the adapter itself and also a generous amount of cache on the CPU itself.

Seems like this limitation is not something they plan to get past at this stage so some applications will not be so well supported by the M1X models and the Intel option covers those bases for now.

Finally, the third gen Ryzen apu chips are out in the wild for hobbyist builds.
Looking hard at both the 5700g and 5600g, both of which crap all over my aged i7 2600, and the 3600 I passed on.

No complication here as I'm 99% going with the 5700g and probably a msi 550 tomahawk.

@Pictus will know :tu:

Edit: Your edit makes my post look a bit weird but all good :tu:

People build identities around the products they buy, so admitting something else is better is tantamount to ego death, and should be avoided at all earthly costs.

It's their religion and most of them act like fanatics anyways.
