Hi there,

is there any talented human being known which is able to alter the overall look of Cubase to make it look a bit more friendly? Im talking about the v7 look (essentially everything pre v8... ).
While there is a small pre defined selection of color schemes in c10 itself available, those are some kind of a joke imo.
A quick google search pointed me out to several forums talking 'bout that and Im able to find some nice looking pics here and there but there are no sites to be found which alllow me to download something. Im kinda too lazy to go trough the hassle of rigistering on just another forum (yeah sorry for that  ), so Im looking for other sources.
On top of that Im hoping to catch some tips/hints here and maybe this thread stays for someone else to find some answers in the future.

thx

YEAH it's VERY VERY hard on my eyes with both poor color vision and vision in general to have to deal with basically staring "Into the dark" all of the time!

I mean can't they give us ANY "LIGHT" Templates which are easy to select instead of going through countless nauseating color palettes (over half of which I cannot distinguish)? I HATE this "Modern" Force-Fed garbage of EVERYTHING is now FORCIBLY dark.

I mean, WTF... Talk about Polar Opposite.

the colors of the project window and key editor are easily manipulated in preferences not seeing a problem. I like dark mode and contrast .
"templates"? Use what's in preferences. Save a version of preferences, save as many as you like, you've a template.

I guess that's what the OP is asking for, though. For someone with good visual taste who already created a "light" template for themselves and was willing to share :)

Exactly! The only colour I have changed is the key editor to be light, similar to v6.
You can also change other colours from Preference, but for me I like the contrast when I select tracks, so I haven't changed any colour rather than the piano roll.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Talking about colours. My 11 Pro's colour chooser for tracks & clips only shows like 16 colour (2 rows of eigth), whereas I've seen in many videos much bigger palette available (like 10 or more rows of eight). How do I enable that?

EDIT: sorry, I think I've found it here :)

Even though I do like the look of Cubase I do almost always change the project and midi backgrounds to a light colour. Sometimes when I am in a different mood I load the default one. Here is the setting I use for this. Image

Hey Antic,

you're actually on point with your words, thx! :tu:
I'm not really interested in tweaking any viusals myself and thought that someone else with kinda decent skills would do the job. :clown:
Since there are almost everytime efforts and communities when comes to GUI related stuff, I figured I had a chance to get it the easy way. I gave up more or less but keep my eyes open.
To be clear, I can deal with the GUI - but an alternative look would be very welcome, hence this thread.

Cheers
Marcel :)

I'm starting to feel this with Studio One as well. Ugh.

Dark themes make sense for Photography and Video apps where people work often in dim rooms. These dark DAWs I feel will drive me into a depression.

"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

"Conceptually", I appreciate that.

In practice, I both find it difficult to remember how to keep returning to the menu (due to the poor color vision), and because they don't provide an example of what the menu will look like (sample output/results window), it is nearly impossible for me to know what it will look like/how my eyes may detect it in contrast to the other colors in the menu... which are not available for me to see when choosing.

It's like forcing audio tracks to only be in solo when making edits or adjstments "ALL of the time", and making the producer to navigate to a special menu to reference how it sounds in the mix. And if there are frequency clashes/muddy tones/whatever else, having to go all of the way back into the same menu in preferences to adjust the solo sample, and go back and forth, remembering what settings were while experiencing intermittent tinnitus issues.

Therefore, I would very much like both a default "lighter color scheme" and an example window of what the results will look like in contrast (which shouldn't be difficult, as the only things changing for data are hexadecimal codes within a small window with image variable that only operate within the confines of when the preference menu is open, so it's not as though it takes a performance hit).

How did you get the preferences window to appear "Within" a small window with the interface in the background??? My Preferences window takes up the WHOLE screen. LOL

For Windows users, there is information and links to free software you can use to change the look of Cubase and any other DAW here.
