The sound of the Silk Road main theme is the first preset that comes in the VST version, if I'm not mistaken:Sequent wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 4:43 pm Ever listened to Kitaro? If so, then you have heard the miniKorg for sure.

And based on some people's criticism of the Prophecy VST's sound they'd be right.chk071 wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 3:39 pm Isn't it a shame how all those companies have fantastic early VA's, and noone dares to make an emulation of them?
Just gotta rip that DSP out, put it in software, and off you go.Guess they're scared that people would judge them by state of the art DSP from the 90's.
I tend to think some people's expectations for recreations of early digital gear is out of whack. There were compromises made then that aren't necessary today and sometimes those compromises are the whole point of wanting to go back.

IMO the Prophecy sounds incredible!
It's one of the better, more interesting sounding hardware synths I ever owned, but also one of the better sounding synths as software in my collection today. I feel like it really has stood the test of time. It's one of the first VA synths and one of the earliest physical modeling synths...and even though the hardware was released nearly three decades ago, it could've easily been a brand new synth released today.
I hope people don't judge based on just some of the patches. Sure, there are some patches that aren't as great. I think the Prophecy could benefit from a "showcase" category. There are some really awesome patches in the factory bank and PHC11 & 12. But everybody should also download the additional banks and patches available. So much great stuff!
Also, keep in mind that while many independent patch designers created patches using third party editor software, many created patches diving through menus on the Prophecy, and that was a pain. Some possibilities get overlooked when you have to program that way. So also don't brush aside a patch that doesn't seem as impressive—try tweaking some settings that are all now readily available.
I'm excited and hopeful that there will be some fresh new patches and banks created by some of the top designers of today. I'd also definitely be interested in making a community bank of sorts

I'm liking Prophecy but there's one thing that's bugging me. If I select a specific bank and click the buttons to step through each patch it steps through every patch of all banks. Is there any way to make it step through only what's selected?

I only just got Triton with this collection and there was a ‘one finger band’ element to the M1 combi patches, but f**king hell every other Triton combi patch seems to be a full on cheesy syncopated production number. Quite a giggle. Must have been very hard for Triton owners in the 90s to avoid the on rails preset rabbithole.

I’ve gotten more information about this product in this thread than Korg’s website. Can we get an Add to Cart and Checkout button added next to Post Reply?

Many years ago I had a friend’s An1x at my place for a few months. Fantastic, inspiring synth. I had a great time with it.

I had loved Korg Workstations till the Triton came out. I hated Korg’s nonstop use of arpeggiators in combis. I demoed the Triton vst but could not get over the one man band madness.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 10:07 pm I only just got Triton with this collection and there was a ‘one finger band’ element to the M1 combi patches, but f**king hell every other Triton combi patch seems to be a full on cheesy syncopated production number. Fixed; makes more sense imho. The first Triton was introduced in 1999, but the range actually had its life lived in the next decade.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 10:07 pm Must have been very hard for Triton owners in the 00s to avoid the on rails preset rabbithole.

The AN1X was my first synth, later I also had an AN200. It was budget choice both times, because they were cheap. Big mistake, I still don't really like their sound. I have never regret to selling them....OrionAlpha101 wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 3:16 pm Maybe one day there is a Yamaha VST Collection ,The AN1x is also a fine digital synthesizer.

Soundwise, I like Yamaha's AN system best of the VA's.
It doesn't have the programming options I'd prefer, but if they came out with a vsti of some of their stuff, it'd be a no-brainer purchase for me.
As it stands now, Trip and Trium from Steinberg are close enough.

There was an option in Global mode to disable automatic arpeggiator playback in combis, IIRC.Chrisk-K wrote: Sat Aug 07, 2021 9:28 pmI had loved Korg Workstations till the Triton came out.
