Chris's plugins are really cool, I think it's time for these plugins to add a GUI

I think the lack of GUI probably works massively in his favour as a filter for idiots, and idiot comments aimed in his direction.

Sorts the men from the boys kinda thing. (I mean no gender-related offense by using that phrase which is not used in any literal sense at all, but merely in its original, archaic context).

Benefits of not having GUI: avoids or reduces visual bias and perception trickery and makes us focus on sound itself, uses less resources, is universal, is consistent for all plugins, is more backwards compatible, requires no support time and fits airwindows' utilitarian ethos/aesthetics.

I don't get why audio people are so interested in pictures - the less visual noise we have to focus on, the more attentive our ears become. Airwindows approach is a breath of fresh air in a sea of visual distraction.

I hear a lot of people saying Airwindows plugs are really good. But I could not jump in because of the lack of GUI. I hope someone would partner with him for making GUI's in the plugins, like those made by others for Analog Obsession plugins

I've been going through them to group & map in Live
It's a bit of a task because there are so many & I couldn't help a bit of rack building. I didn't know about these til this thread happened.

They would have my full cooperation. I've already adjusted my code slightly to make it easier for the Surge Synthesizer folks to import my new plugins into Surge. It's all very onboardable once you figure out the templates: my stuff is very predictable, especially the VSTs. You would have rather a large workload if you were fixing to duplicate the whole plugin line

You'd need to do the GUI version of a plugin, for Mac, Windows, and Linux VST and AU, with the Mac version covering PPC, Intel and signed M1 processors (not all in the same version, do a 'retro' version) in order to match what I do in GUI form. And you would have to do it every week. I'd love to see somebody try. I'd join their Patreon and promote it like I promoted 'Rackwindows'

And also, do all the existing plugins, which now is well over 200, to cover the entire library. That should be expected without dropping the 'release new plugin weekly' thing.

What? I did that when it was time to port everything to signed Mac Intel/M1.

Hey Chris and Airwindows fans. I dont want to hijack this thread but I wanted to share this as it uses Tapedelay2 and many other Airwindows plugins and relates a bit to the gui discussion. I am a big Airwindows fan and use lots of them constantly and am always trying to figure out how to integrate them.
My latest creation is a full Airwindows console using Mutools Mux. here is a link to the video there is a download link in the video as well as the KVR discussion thread.
The test last night on a small mix was very impressive. The best way to discribe it would be to say that it was open sounding and so much more efficient. I have made a few changes since I made the video. The preset file is upto date for now. I will be making some more detailed vids in the near future.

That's impressive. You sure can keep a train of thought on the rails, and Mux has never been expensive, and is apparently a better bargain the more you analyze the possibilities. But I was dying to hear the music

Then it dawned on me, ever so slowly, there are windows versions in the .zips, and the BlueCat Axiom ampSim-suite hosts 3rd party vsts, and linux reaper hosts a wrapped vst version of Axiom...so I created a folder in linux for the AirWindows windows-versions, copied them over, fired up Reaper, loaded Axiom, and loaded some AirWindows plugins, now all gussied-up by the French plugin arteeeeesssts extraordinaire...

I can't say enough about Blue Cat. You know, if you're hosting AU plugins, I don't think there's anybody who does a better job of hosting generic AUs than Guillame at Blue Cat. Back in the day, many years ago, some of my users ran into an issue with hosting Airwindows plugins (this is before there were even VSTs of them) in Blue Cat programs, and I talked with Guillame about it, and he got every bit of information he could out of me and implemented it… so, Blue Cat plugin hosts honor ALL the weird little control quirks you can make generic AUs do. Starting at one value and going to another? Covered. Want to set the 'logarithmic' flag so that your control has audio taper? Blue Cat hosts honor that too. It's really thorough and impressive.

These days since I make VSTs too, which aren't as sophisticated, I tend to cover that in the plugin code rather than telling the host to set up the control to act a certain way. But it's worth mentioning just how good Blue Cat is at hosting plugins with sophisticated generic control configurations.

I have the (unobtrusive hiss-free, not 'free hiss') demo of Patchwork, another thought that dawned on me later and it's very nice way to have uncluttered vst rigs at the ready:

Wrt to the consoles, notice that you can make this plugin below act as an 8 input airwindows console:
