Just thought I'd share a couple of recent music purchases that impressed me.

"The earth is not a cold dead place", Explosions in the Sky - I got this last week on the strength of online reviews and have really enjoyed it. It's a similar sound to GYBE! although a lot more cheerful.

"Future Perfect" by Autolux - LA psych-rock trio formed by an ex-member of Failure. Good stuff. Since I'm a lazy bastard I'll repeat what countless reviews have already said, they sound a bit like My Bloody Valentine. But not that much.

My discoveries this year have been kvr-assisted. Fennesz and Penderecki. Both superb.

Also got round to getting a Pan-American album. Ace if you are into kranky records stuff.

Need I say you should all discover Telefon Tel Aviv.

And Lusine.

What is this Telefon Tel Aviv of which you speak? :)
I've heard them recommended before, must check them out. What I'd also like is some music to fill the void left by the fact that Boards of Canada take soooooo long to put an album out.

Pan-American is on Kranky made by one of the guys from LaBradford. Have 3 albums out I think, latest sounds much more like LaBradford than the previous 2. First album was really good, second was alright but not great. New one very good. Also good new stuff on Kranky would be the Dead Texan.

Fly Pan Am are on Constellation records. From Montreal.

I bought a cd by Gus & Frank called "I'd rather be a bass player" mostly because I found the name of the cd funny. Turned out they were actually really good :) Their bass player is a freeeek :o
