Sounds reasonable to me. They screwed up. You get what you deserve, and they remove your track.
Whats the problem?

Hit them with a lump sum suit, $2 for every CD, $1 if they want to settle outside of court!
Then again I'm not a lawyer, but typical US domestic fees are 33% and 45% if it goes to court. Damn lawyers!
Edit: OK OK had to do this.........."too many outlets in an out, like..."

You're credited with the song atleast Nutekk?
Chalk it up to 'free publicity' and get that somg onto a CD album or something that you agree to QUICK! If EMI comes around and says 'You can't do THAT!' Just tell them (with evidence) they shouldn't have done what they did. Your CD, their ad campaign. You don't collect from them, they don't collect from you.
Then drive off playing The Sex Pistols 'EMI' song as loud as you can.

I hear you Nutekk. But A: You still get SESAC/BMI/ASCAP whatever royalties from EMI's exposure. And if you hurry with your CD, you get that AND much better 'mechanicals' if you know what I'm saying?
It's a 'dog eat dog' world, until one dog farts in the others face.

Sue them. Sue sue sue :)or at least threaten a lawsuit.
Claim loss of revenue, copywrite infringement and add a few other things so that at least one sticks
Argue that your song is now on the P2P systems (which it probably is) So you are losing revenue from that. You obviously had no contract with them so they had absolutely no right to use the song.
Trust me on this - if the roles were reversed, they would come after you.
Maybe I am perhaps a bit naive but I wouldn't take this from anyone.
Let me add, if you are noisy enough about your lawsuit, it will be free publicity. And believe me when I say, people love when the small guy wins against the big evil (yes EMI is pure evil) corporation.

Talk to a music Lawyer....
The fine for copying a DVD is NZ$60k, stealing someones song deliberately and making money out of it has to be worth more than some paltry royalties.
Get a lawyer to contact an EMI near you and sue their nasty singlets off.
Of course, EMI have verrrryy deep pockets... you need one of those TV lawyers that would do pro bono work just cause you're a nice guy

you can try sueing them. I hope you succeed, because it'd be nice for the little guy to win for a change.
