It's not a bug, but it's not intentional in the sense that they want it that way. The RE SDK just doesn't allow REX file import/export (yet). That's why we don't have it in Grain, either. Hopefully an RE SDK update will add that feature, but I'm not holding my breath. There's ways around it (bounce the REX file in Reason to wav, open said wav in Grain/Mimic).

No clue about ReCycle, but as a viable product being sold I cannot imagine it still bringing in any revenue that amounts to anything (though I could be wrong)!

Does it work in RRP? I thought those buttons didn't. Would make Europa more useful if it did...

Ahhh right, my bad - no you cannot sample in RRP as of right now. Only in Reason standalone.

See, RS are backing the DAW not just RRP ;-)

Interestingly I bought Reason for RRP to use in other DAWS and as of yet I don't think I have used it that way once- Reason just works as it is! You get the full DAW with RRP (its not like they are separate products) so I guess you could just do all of your sampling in RS then use it in other DAWS?

Testing the usual! The sampler is REALLY good as a drum machine as now you have full control over each part vs some control.
THOUGH
it has some timing wobble that is very minor. So if needing super solid perfect timing without the micro variations I would suggest Kong or Redrum. Though, testing with a small psytrance project it is very hard to notice.
Some really nice things it a decent 1 knob compressor, just a tiny bit on the kick and it brought it to a nice thump.
Multi out really nice and easy like redrum
Things I wish it with multi sample mode it would collapse the piano roll to 8 notes but as long as you remember C3 is the start it's a super minor gripe.
The High and low cuts are really .... screw it. I'm rating this the most user friendly sampler of them all. Wont say the best as I don't see multi samples but thats where nnxt nn19 are there for.
very musical sampler.

Regroove mixer, thank the heavens it looks really nice and more modern. Functionality hasn't changed but the look of it is a nice change.

You seem to have gone though the same logic as I did when I subscribed...its not a big leap if your used to buying Bitwig Annual Plans! If nothing else it can be a short term 'fix' until there is some no brainer 'Reason 13 suite' or something- its not like you are committed for life, you can cancel any time! If you decide to stay with it you can always sell your licence (or just keep it for 'insurance!) - I seem to remember they did offer 1 year for 40% off at some point (130)- a bit like buying Bitwig Annual Plans in the sale maybe!

Yup.... if there's no alternative skins you can choose, you can change it very easily to something more to your taste, with a quick click.

As for Mimics colour combination, it's considered bad in the fashion industry to mix orange and green, so if you are wondering what the.... well you're not alone.

Bitwig lets you keep the updates though, right? I struggle to see the similarity. I bought Reason 11 (mainly because the GUI is amazing IMO) about the same time as the RRP was released. Things didn't look so bad for the DAW back then but soon after (if i remember correctly) they changed their name and eventually this subscription business started, which honestly is way too corporate dystopia for me to handle. Have any updates to the DAW been announced for Reason 12? Not that i really need any but it would be nice to know i'm not spending time and energy learning a tool that is abandoned.

AFAIK a developer over at reasontalk has stated that there will be no more Suite versions btw, and i doubt any variations on that theme will come either as it would very likely compete with their subscription model.

Trying out Bitwig and Ableton Live now but damn, Live in particular feels seriously strange as far as sequencer navigation goes. I guess you just have to throw enough hours at it...

Same. Colors looks fine, IMHO. Horses for courses, and all that. In fact, according to a cursory Google search, “Yellow and Green in combination is soothing and undramatic” - perfect for the wave editor screen. And if the same is true for any two colors within 60 degrees of each other on the wheel, well - brown isn’t too far off either.

Ah well - people have different tastes I suppose.

You guys talk weird things. Since they added browser (years ago) one can:

1. save native RE presets to a custom location
2. save FXP preset format to a custom location
3. save any type of Reason preset file (ala Combinator) to a custom location

You can then add that custom location as a shortcut to your browser meaning you can extremely fast load any type of RE or Combinator or VST plugin with any type of settings preloaded (preset) and it works in usual drag and drop situation. Actually that was one of the key point which turned me back then.

I have (example) folder called "Track utils" and inside of it I have presets categorized by their utility purpose, be it presets or subfolders.

It works wonderfully you should try it.

That's not what we're discussing, though :dog:

I'm talking about the fact that Reason / Companion doesn't let us choose location where soundbanks, optional devices & REs are kept. I wiped Reason 11 and made a completely fresh install of Reason+ yesterday and those 3 thing took over 25GB on my main SSD, which I don't want. I had to move them to secondary internal drive myself & make junction links so that Reason still thinks they're there.

AKAI MPC the same, given they sell massive sample packs that 'have to be installed on your system drive...people have been complaining about this stuff for years (with Reason and MANY others) as so menu of us now have smaller SSD system drives.

True story: with the amount of Expansions I’ve installed just for my MPC and Force, I’ve come to a point where I need to upgrade my computer’s SSD. Might create some file directory aliases first and see if that works (which it does work for Reason at least).
