Mobo for 3700x selfbuild DAW

Any recommendations? I need 32gig RAM and plenty USB. I don't want overclocking. I want something very reliable and fast.

3700x was a recommendation. I was told 3700x is best VFM (value for money).

Same requirements as before, ie no overclocking or need for bells and whistles

But looking at your posts you mention B550 Tomahawk, it is good(front USB3)

i should choose the 5800x over the 3700x, indeed value for money, but zen3 has advantages, or is the 3700x one chiplet? (it was 4 cores per...???).. EDIT: 5800x has one chiplet/die, it is a SOC, so it has more build in then cores...

and the single core performance, which is quite important in a DAW.

the AROES series has a lot of connections, if you need them. also quite strong VRM (the X570 elite, the pro is a bit better, it depend always on reading a lot, so, ), even when not overclocking, it will provide a better performance.

o, 4 + 2 VRM, the rog strix, mentioned above... technically... o so many factors... and where do you stop?

i stopped at the gigabyte aorus x570 elite.... good VRM (digital and good cooling), a lot of connections, 2 NVME slots (one only with heat spreader), well build, and all is quite accessible...
of course enough alternatives...

but indeed Bxxx chipsets and motherboards can also provide a good performance.

this isn't a clear post, haha...

there is always the budget, a limit.

but it is an investment for years, i made an investment with in mind the normal years i use a computer, 7 to 8 years.
so i went over the 5800x...

and always go for 3600Mhz, even if it is CL18.

i watched the vid about the 5800X, yes indeed, VFM perhaps not so great, but for a DAW, the single core performance is quite more.

2687 (which isn't much more than my i7-6700K, almost, almost.. the same... 100 difference, at stock, so @4.4 no...) or for the 5800x ......... 3495...
well that is quite a gap... you always need high single core performance + the highest core (not really the last one 8, is good, 16 logical cores..).

it is gaming vid... if you look at more DAW directed vid's, articles... well...

but if you are on a budget...

Well actually i was looking at 5950x but it would take a good while to save the money. I could do with getting the new computer sooner than later. I have a friend who offered to build it for me, and he estimated 3700x will cost me less than £1000 all in. I'll have a look at the other options. Thanks for your reply.

i went for the 5900x, and all other stuff you need, i take my 'old' graphics card with me (second hand price almost the same as i bought it for.....), 2 ssd drives + hd drive, with all the data. and extended it with 2 NVME drives.
it exceeds the cost you mentioned. had also buy a 'new' case and cooler, because the old case, well it was always too small for everything..

my studio desktop was still good. so i wasn't in a rush... but still, i want to do more, than i can do now. mainly single core performance (30-40% i guess) and well, 8 more real cores now...|

if you can take some parts of old desktop (if you have one) to the new one, it can save you more.

it depends on the CPU, for instance that you have now, if the 3700X will give you more.
and it depends on your needs of course.

but for instance Softube Modular/Reaktor/Pigments 3/Delta-V-Audio Spacecraft (with 128 grains) will perform better, or i hope... and the other cpu killers...
they already perform quite well, but i have to lower sometimes, some parameters, and also MPE consumes a lot of CPU..

so advices are good, of course, as options. but it are your needs, of course you know this, if for instance a 3700X gives you what you want.

i adapted, or how do you say, this configuration on the needs, of the programs and plugins i work with. i have also programs/plugins that gladly take 12 cores (and even 24 logical cores).

I would go for 5600X before 3700X, single core performance is up to 2021 standards.
