I didn't really have that issue on Arch, but had to increase buffer size to 4096 with a sample rate of 48000 to avoid xruns, then I was able to use 25x Noisemakers. DSP didn't even reach 90% fortunately :D

Does Noisemaker really take up so much CPU these days? In a former OSC I ran a project (yes in Cubase, Z :)) with 95 instances on a 2010 first gen i5 CPU.
I had to freeze tracks to be able to utilize fx plug-ins but still, 95 instances

Haha, no, I was joking. TAL plugins are pretty excellent. I only have a bit high CPU in a project with somewhere around 100 instances...

Are you thinking to stop a monster truck with these instance numbers? I bet on it :hihi:

That’s an excellent idea for OSC #151 :D

Post

Yeah, a minimum of 100 instances required :hyper: :dog: :D  :borg:

This is my entry for KVR OSC 150.
https://soundcloud.com/gorgorgathgorgor ... babilities
Much of the midi (for the drums, most of the bass lines, and the sparkly things) was generated in VCV Rack, routed into Reaper via loopMIDI, and edited a bit.
14 instances of TAL Noisemaker (technically some are duplicate drum tracks used for arrangement purposes).
The FX used were:
Pancake,
SonEQ,
Slick EQ,
Loudmax,
NastyDLA,
Ferric TDS, and
DC1A3.

Indeed, I have failed, I'll surely grace the bottom of the rankings yet again :-(

I think I found a workaround for assigning mod wheel to vibrato. If you use the little graphic envelope like this, assign mod wheel to amount and move the center point down as little as possible, you can get a subtle vibrato:

Hi,
I just updated my Exp_2 track on SoundCloud.
I changed the sound a little bit, but the track needs probably still a lot of work
to sound realy good :-(

Additionally I posted a third track "Exp_3".
I've used 20 instances of Noisemaker and more than 50 instances of different effect plugins.
