Hi - first post here :)

I am trying to use PaulXStretch to process some audio. I can load it, and playback, and process audio just fine inside Cubase, but the app does not have an export nor a render button, and I am confused as to how to get the processed audio onto my HDD.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

I think the blog says there may be problems with offline render in Cubase.
There may be problems when doing offline rendering/export in Cubase. A workaround to get the plugin output into a final mix is to record the output of the plugin in real time by some means into an audio track and bypassing/removing the plugin before doing offline exports. (This may be a sensible workflow in other hosts too…)

There is indeed a note about some issue in Cubase in the notes.

So, how would you do it in another DAW?

I don't use Cubase, but in Live i just route the audio from the PaulXStretch track onto another armed audio track and hit record. Reaper has a nifty function where you're able to record only the output of a track, so you can capture what PaulXStretch is doing in the same track.

i use paulXstretch with cubase artist 9.5 a lot and i get no problems. design your sound and then use the render in place-feature to get some bars of it into a fresh audio track, easy peasy

That note was about a bug that prevented the audio from offline rendering correctly in Cubase, and I think I was able to fix it, but I couldn't confirm the fix myself since I don't have Cubase to test with. So I left the note about Cubase in.

The plugin won't itself offline render, I looked into implementing that but there were some complications and I haven't looked into that again for a long time. Also, even if such an offline export feature was added into the plugin, it wouldn't be able to use any parameter automation from the host that way.

The workflow of the plugin isn't ideal, but I am not sure how much it could be improved.

No chance for coming back to Apple OS again?

Not really, my Mac laptop is on its last breaths and it would probably finally give up if I tried to upgrade to the latest Mac Os and Xcode versions. And even if those upgrades wouldn't be necessary (but I think they are), I would also have to join the paid Apple developer program in order to produce signed/notarized binaries. So, not really an attractive situation.

That's really a pity, cause your plugin is a gem and I miss it...

Assign the PaulXStretch channel to a group track, arm an audio track to record with "said" group track as it's input :tu:

Cheers.
Kingofbeers.
