Hello everyone.

as the title implies, im looking for a vst that will convert the rms level of a channel in my daw mixer (which is ableton) (i dont own max, and don't really wish to spend money for this) to a cc message i can send to my custom diy midi controler to be able to monitor the levels of my tracks.

If you know of any vst that does this, or another way to achieve the same result, i would really appreciate your suggestions. thank you!

thank you very much, it seems to be a good alternative, but is def outside of the intended budget.

was hoping for something free or cheap.

A simple google search revealed this:

P.s. sorry, Linux only LV2 plugins it seems…

I might cobble something together in Max. It would be standalone and runs in the Max demo without restrictions. You would need some Midi routing to send it to Live. Unless you have Max4Live, but it seems you don‘t… Are you on Win or Mac?

I just made one in Synthedit. It will convert audio to any chosen MIDI CC with options for setting sensitivity, base-line value, CC polarity +/- and audio thru on/off.

However, Synthedit 64bit can't export MIDI plugins yet, so this is only 32bit for now.

Let me know if you're interested.

The Piz midi AudiotoCC should do what you're asking I think;

You can still get the plug-ins here;

Loads of useful stuff...
