In my opinion having the modulators across the middle with drag-and-drop is a big deal. The effects are also very good with lots of of modulation options. The different oscillators are also a strong point - try the vector osc where you can load 4 waveforms and morph between them - that's huge!

The preset browser is also very good as is the GUI in general. A lot of stuff is on one screen.

Now the sound: It's absolutely capable of beautiful, analogue-esque sounds. I felt a lot of the presets that came with it were a bit harsh, digital, mental. So for my presets I wanted to add a bit of analogueness. I used a lot of random, key-tracking, and other midi modulators to emulated instabilities.

You'll find my presets prefixed with NL (New Loops). Try these presets:
  • NL - Beautiful Pluck
    NL - Exploration
    NL - Expression
    NL - Nova
    NL - Slow sweeper
    NL - V Shaper
    NL - Vector Brass

Thanks folks! Hopefully HY will sell a few of this during the sale. Tadashi is a great bloke.

Can somebody please tell me the approximate number of presets that HY-Poly ships with?

I would say around 300.

I have a preset bank ready (40 presets), but I haven't released it yet.
Please tell me what is great about Poly.
The oscillators in the payware version are very nice.
The arp is excellent.
The workflow is very good, fast, efficient.
I find it very "rewarding" (by lack of better words), because it has a wide sweet spot, it is enticing for experimenting and playing.

i got it pretty much for the vector oscillator. it just seems to be a bit easier to get results in that compared to some of the other options - and i don't need one that's authentic to the prophet vs.

Honestly, I like how digital it sounds. Plenty of authentic analog VAs out there, it's nice to have something more in-your-face in the digital way. It sounds nice, but just don't expect a Prophet or a Roland sound from it.

Here's a six pack of patches, the result of my first two hours with HY Poly. Very fun synth. I think it should be possible to load your own 2048 sample waveforms and I'm going to go back in and give that a go to see if it works. Want to get stuck in with the Midi FX, they should be fun as well.

All in all a very well thought out synth with a very pleasing core sound. :tu:

EDIT: Yes it's possible to use custom waveforms in the Vector Oscs. If you own Dune 3 you can use it to create single cycle waveforms and if you have the Adventure Kid waveforms they'll work as well. You can create a subfolder to save your custom waveforms to keep them separate from the factory wavs. :)

As a 'first try' it sounds really great, even pro, thank you!
My fav: CULO GRANDE (just like in real life here in South America :-D) I added just filter cutoff and res for those super saw EDM raves.
Vector Table 01 Tek : sound inspiring! Vector is one of the best features synth resources in HY-POLY

Update: final demo version.
Full demo and info: https://archive.org/details/hy-poly-demo-2

I used 4 of my fav GREAT presets from the NEW LOOPS section by Biome_Digital :tu: , for this amazing and inspirational synth created by Suginomori Tadashi.

I modified them to a greater or smaller degree to fit it to demo.

Synths: HY-POLY - 5 instances
E. Bass (real) and electric guitar solo (real)
Drums: UJAM Kandy and Punch 2 (Rob Papen)
Voices:
VECTO 1.0.2 (Rob Papen)
Xpand!2 (AIR MT)
Guitar process: Overloud TH-U
Bass process: QuickBass (UnitedPlugins)
FX: some add compression, EQ and volume shaper. (from Reaper)

NOTE: Although I usually record my parts with my MIDI controller, I also love to record with my Roland synth guitars as audio, and the MIDI output assigned to a synth, a HY-POLY lead an octave lower for this demo.

Composition, all programing, instruments performance and recording:

Than YOU for the kind words.

Yes Vector is a great feature and with the ability to load your own .wav files it expands the feature even more. :tu:
