Cakewalk for ease of use,REason because I can actually see with the new zoomfeature and Reaper when i want to hang myself because it sometimes works and only good for engineers, not musicians.

Reaper always gives me a fail somewhere down the line.

I used it to convert an old record I had since the 80s.

i record the tracks but now when I want to resize the items of the last track after the needle leaves the groove,i getthis strange behaviour.

Instead of just left mouse and dragging the end ofthe item to size,I get a green dotted line box being created OVER the WAV Item then when I place my mouse over this item,A razor tool appears.

i mean WTH???????

i installed the Ilogic 3.90 theme by Blank Files and I think this theme introduced this Twilight Zone Green dooted line Box.
I can't get rid of it either when going back to the default theme.

I got no idea how to reset my settings.

Reaper, designed to send us to early graves if Covid doesn't get us first.

I only used Reaper because of REAfir ,that plug removes clicks and pops or tries too.

Reason does not have these tools.

I might try an experiment and convert this vinyl in Cakewalk and see how much better I can finish it.

I will use one of my old 70's obscure jazz, prog, fusion, folk, heavy albums this time!

Reason is tremendous.

I can click away sections in a breeze(browser,Rack,Mixer,Sequencer,I have an ssl console at my disposal ,the sounds are awesome.
In it's advanced form,no,over my head, but at a practical level, love it and love it's stability also.

Reaper is good for editing but you get these errors and flaky ness which sendss you over the wall, and lots of stuff needs explaining, not easy to pick up.

Cakewalk NOW is stable as a rock but the HIPSTERs don't like it,it's not pretty like the others or "Cool" as Reaper but this is the GIANT of DAWS that gets pushed under the carpet.

It can do anything,a real swiss army knife, has great sounds included and FX that are incredible for FREE!!!

But we can't talk about Cakewalk to our mates and friends, they might look away after sipping their cafe lattes.

Our partners may leave us.

P.S. Found Silver Convention SAve Me record,COOL! Disco 70's STYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my Reaper back!

Another weird issue though.

I rendered some tracks but the first track did not normalise like the others.

I'm using Cubase for a couple reasons. 1) it's the first DAW I came to know at all well so I developed habits in it long before I ever really considered a move to another; 2) in terms of what I do now, 18 yrs later it's the most suitable (its closeness with VE Pro and its kind of central place in development there), fortunately; & 3) certain features are not in other hosts, or they are but it's another workflow or involve workarounds and without compelling other reasons... there have been certain reasons since but were more or less ameliorated (w. VE Pro).

Live because I took to it like a fish to water and have been with it for so long that starting with something new would just be annoying

Live, because it suits my workflow perfectly.

"Ableton and Bitwig".
They are similar but it's like "Serum and Vital".
They can't cancel each other but between the two DAWs I cover all my needs.

Logic Pro.
Why? Paid €179 in 2013. There have been multiple major upgrades since then. Haven't paid a Pfennig for them. This is my 2nd computer in 8 years to run LP, and this one was comparatively cheap in relation to my previous computer. I would guess that a good percentage of the cost of my new Mac was paid for by all the free updates in 8 years. It works very well within the Apple environment, can be controlled by iPads or iPhones.
Logic is a great big sandbox for the right kiddie.

My main one is Cubase especially on Windows, but I also use Bitwig and Studio One sometimes.

I have switched a lot lately, but Cubase is what I know best and Bitwig is the only DAW I use in Linux. I also prefer to use Bitwig when on Mac (M1) because it is really snappy and stable (It is native). :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I use several, not one. Technically, I can use any DAW and get just about any job done with very similar results, and this is only using stock plugins. Personally, I use 3rd party plugins for the obvious reasons. By the way, I've seen this question answered many times on every forum. There are over a dozen highly organized and detailed videos on YT regarding this exact question. You should check those out for supplementary content.
...and the electron responded, "what wall?"

Studio One. First switched from Cubase for the Melodyne ARA integration (WAY better than VariAudio, at least back then). Now I love it because it lets me record without screwing around. It's almost like an MPC in that sense, or maybe a tape recorder if it had undo's and auto quantize.

Recently moved the bulk of what I do to Reaper. It performs as expected, is rock solid and exceptionally efficient.
