i'm using reaper 6.3. i sometimes use midiyoke to hook reaper up with other dawish apps like cantabile lite.
why is reaper my main daw? we'll, i actually tried it and liked it.
it wasn't a demo so i knew exactly what i was getting.
it did midi stuff that i wanted done that other daws couldn't seem to do.
it's easy to download. it's affordable to poor me.
there's no dongle, there's no copy protection.
you can converse with the two devs, justin and schwa, at the reaper forum.
there are lots of helpful people like evildragon and kenny gioia and other video tutorial makers being helpful. there are lots of free useful scripts.

Cubase 11 and Live 11, CB because it's the best linear DAW for my needs and workflow, tried all the other Mac ones.

I used to use Reason since 2019 but switched to Live because of Reason's terrible cpu usage while working with vsts. Now Reason has far better optimization than Live, but I got used to it and don't feel like switching. Tried Logic recently, but I can't be bothered with fighting my muscle memory and learning all the shortcuts from scratch. Seems like a cool daw tho.

Reason, because it is the best……for me. I like working with the rack, front and back. The visuals deliver good overview and control. The three main pages, mixer, rack and tracks are fairly okay to navigate between. It is always a little annoying to switch pages, but the cons win. Another reason for chosing it is that I like to do some modules of my own sometimes, and again the visuals make a difference in that the layout reminds of hardware modules. It cannot be beating by anything in my book. I bought Logic Pro too, but it is deleted. Reason sweeps the table with no left overs.

With all those features, like protection against Covid.
That's why we are using it

Live. Least cluttered look. Easiest workflow for what I do.

Live 11 for fiddling around, Studio One 4.6 for actual work that needs to get done.
Can't mix in Live for the life of me. S1 has shitty midi timing so that's no fun either.
