I got in touch with voxengo directally and they pointed out that even with Teote some post eq might be needed , which really is cool because I guess it's easy to put too much faith in something when it's really a case of this AND that make it good.

Makes me realise sometimes my train if thought is too narrow.

Makes me think that maybe I don't need more saturation than I get from inflator.

Can see Teote going in my collection by the end if the day tbh

+1 for TEOTE.

I have recently purchased it, and it was the best decision I could make. I've tried it on a few master chains and it was always better after than before (can't exclude I'm very bad at mixing ). Just demo it, you should hear quick results and know if you need/like it or not.

Never tried Gulfoss, nor soothe, but, as it has already been said, soothe is advertised as a problem solver, while TEOTE (and gulfoss I guess) are made to make things sound better.

For the record, when mastering, I mix Ozone modules (Imager, Maximizer most of the times) with other single plugins (HG2, VSM3, TEOTE, Kotelnikov, StandardClip etc).

Pay a local mastering engineer for an attended session. You'll learn more in an hour or two there than you would with years of trawling on here or GS etc.

TEOTE is awesome! Can almost guarantee, if used subtly, it will improve your mix when sitting on the masterbus - however, it won't fix your mix if there are serious problems, it will only 'nudge' it gently towards a more balanced sound.

Love Soothe but it can be destructive and leave artifacts on the master - so I always hunt down the offending resonance in the mix and solve the problem there (with Soothe or automated EQ), but this is something I do out of habit. The less things I can have on the master, the better.

EDM is all about parallel EVERYTHING.

Ozone is a bit hit and miss. People swear by it, but I find individual plugins are the way to go.

And good advice is try to not rely too much on automagic problem-solvers.

100% I'm leaning that about less mental EDM. Less is more

And me, I'm really interested in how these plugins could help me with harsh high ends that I might not be hearing and maybe even the same inthe mids and low .

I am pretty sure my hearing is badly damaged over years of not really caring enough about it. A little help could really benefit me.

And after all that's what Teote is named "That's easier on the ear"

And we are taking small things here , I'd hope my mix downs really aren't THAT bad.lol

This got me right in the feels. It looks like we're both holding on to the ends of the same sail in getting that little raft to land. Using the plugins we have today to get a decent balance is really fortunate for the regular artist but unfortunately, those plugins don't account for frequencies that poke out. For that, I still go back to using a pink noise generator.

So, if I may suggest, go over the mix with pink noise, leveled to whatever slope fits your genre to find and tame the harsh frequencies you may not hear, but "seeing" them poke out from the pink reference curve. I'm assuming we all know how this technique is done. Careful not to rebalance to the pink noise curve or you'll turn your track into a lifeless and dull Trance/EDM track.
