If that speculation is correct, it's a damn fine suite of plugs as-is and I got my money's worth and then some.

Aside from the aging GUI I agree.

It's not correct. There have been plenty of hints from Soundtoys that they're working on things. I'm sure Covid has slowed it down, but these threads are always full of uninformed speculation.Russell Grand wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 8:16 am If that speculation is correct, it's a damn fine suite of plugs as-is and I got my money's worth and then some.

Just curious, what are those hints you are referring to?

Quite a few various interviews from Mitch, the product guy, has said they are working on stuff, but some things have taken a lot longer than expected, but he didn’t want to go into details - most likely tech debt I think with a very small dev team - and I think they’ve had to rebuild a completely new platform and rebuild all the (now quite old) plugins for resizing and so on…

oh wow. thanks for sharing that. that’s great news. just good to know they’re working on that stuff.

They also moved into a brand new office 2 summers ago https://twitter.com/soundtoys/status/11 ... 9896466432 and have been hiring additional engineers. That would be pretty weird behavior for a company that was purely in maintenance mode. It seems much more likely that the release of a major update has been delayed by the size of the job, and half the market moving to a new chip architecture in the interim. Soundtoys' flagship product is not a single product, it's a bundle. More so than with other developers, people tend to own Soundtoys 4, 5, etc. so if they're going to update a single plugin's UI, add resizing etc, they most likely feel the need to do it for all 21 plugins, plus whatever new plugins they have in the pipeline, which they absolutely do have. That's a big job, takes time.

I absolutely love Soundtoys , as a company and their plugins. If V6 arrives, it will be welcome here. But as a company, they are one of the top ones. Really helped me out a lot when I needed it.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive
