I see Thor (Reason/Propellerhead) used to be on ipad but disappeared, bummer. Wonder why?

So what would the next best synth for ipad be? A polyohonic quality synth like Thor.

Total ipad noob, just got it and never touched an apple deive expect for ipod long ago. I am thinking maybe Korg Electribe Wave?

Yeah, it's a shame they pulled Thor. The closest I can think of is SynthMaster 2. It was just released for iPadOS last month.

Maybe a little bit late but the closest synth I have found which is similar to THOR is Obsidian within Nanostudio 2.

My iPad 2018 is the last one I'll ever buy. A bunch of my old music/synth apps don't work on it anymore. Ok, fine, they still run on my iPad 2... but I'm not ok with Apple constantly killing backwards compatibility.
No problem on desktop/laptop - I just use Windows - even my oldest plugins (early 2000s) still work on it. But for Touch devices, there's really no Apple alternative (or just not good enough for me).

OT: when an iOS app stops getting update... a few iOS updates later: high probability that it doesn't run anymore -> Thor

This might sound like an anti-Apple rant, but it isn't. It's me saying how much I care for backwards compatibility. It feels (to me) like someone is stealing something that you've paid hard earned money for.

Moog ones I got for free a while back when they had that weird sale. I got all of them for free. My minds still blown by it.

I'm typically a hopeless Propellerhead apologist, but there's simply no excuse for their abandonment of Thor on iPad. It's not that it won't run on newer iPads; They just inexplicably removed it from the App Store. Other apps became abandonware during the transition from 32-bit to 64-bit. With Reason's M1 update coming in a few months perhaps they will reconsider more cross pollination of rack devices over to iPad in the future since many of the compatibility barriers between platforms has been greatly reduced. I'd love to see Algoritm, Friktion, or any of their other newer devices with scalable interfaces brought over.

honestly I think this is the Reason ... ahem... it explains why they made so much fanfare about hi-def graphics and scalability, so they can work on iPhone to the biggest iMac, and they have gone totally modular in the way iOS music is. I think they did Reason Compact as an interim step, but going forward pretty much EVERYTHING will be on all Apple devices. When that happens they will totally dominate in pretty much every area. Well, maybe not their sequencer window, but even there, I really like their blocks and pattern arranging, and would make sense on an iPad.

Smart move IMO

The Apple dev specs state that the default will be for apps to be pushed to Mac, iOS, and iPadOS, and devs who don't want it on any have to specifically disable it. That's a pretty assertive indication they want it to go that way. We'll have to wait and see what it does to sales and prices, but it's more than likely going to be a really big shift in music tech. Some of the apps coming out these days are amazing

I just picked up the Yonac stuff with the recent mad sale, really impressive.

None of these things are anything like Thor tbf!! So, yeah, there's that. Hey it's KVR, at least I didn't mention Reaper - oh, doh!

So, anyway, Synthmaster 2 is definitely worth a look in that regard, I do like that one too.
