DAWs aren't supposed to be fun. They're supposed to enable you to work efficiently.
This is like complaining that Microsoft Excel isn't dun these days. That is not a design goal of these applications.

If all the actual music happens outside the DAW and you're just recording and sequencing it then yeah kinda.
